    Wet but reasonably mild,

Air temp 7c, pond up to 5.5c, amazing the difference in the fish, all active and looking for food but they will have to graze the pond walls / floor for what they can find for now.

Same here in Leeds pond temp 5.5c today.

Another mild day. Heater still unplugged and pond at 9.3C.

A lot of rain has found its way into the pond today even with covers on.

Fish took flake and wheatgerm instantly, fairly active.

My pond is up to 5.5 this morning, and the fish were swimming about a lot yesterday, windows misted up most of the day too which is a pain, filter room pipes condensing for the first time too so temps certainly going in the right direction

I put a 200w aquarium heater in my quarantine tank on the weekend at last, that currently only has small goldfish/odd yet to be identified fish too, that is sat at 16.5. I may get a couple of little koi to grow on in it, or just keep what I have in there to keep the filter ticking over...

9.3 would be wonderful, really keen to know if my new filters have matured 'at all' and whether my Nexus has kept the bio going, guess feeding time will tell when it arrives... ammonia is stable at 0.040 to 0.042 for the last month or so, so hoping

13.2c today, fish very active and looking for food, only getting 1 feed per day though, i dropped the window cover and watched them for a bit, it was nice to see them, they looked quite inquisitive and was at the window all the time, the young Showa, Doitsu gin Matsuba, goshiki and Kujaku looking good thank goodness, they had a rough time during the summer and autumn due to treatments etc, i thought i was going to lose them but pleasingly are looking good and putting on weight, the 300w heater i think has been a life saver during these cold times..... Mine was just a cheap one on like the ones you see on eBay for £2 the fridge ones. I wouldn't mind a better one if anyone has any suggestions, don't want to buy a new one every 6 months!

I have always thought using a surface thermometer wouldn't be accurate because the top layer is always likely to be warmer in summer than the rest of the pond and colder in winter but I don't know if a thermocline exists in a pond like it does in a lake etc because the water is circulated in various places

Good question and some it to think about mate . I keep my probes in the filter at the moment and was hoping on doing the same with this. Do you think that would make any difference shouldn't really should it

Heavy rain all day, really mild, pond is well protected from wind.

Looked and at 10.5C had to check that my heater was still unplugged, a rise of just over 1degC with no heat wow shows how mild it is

Just placed covers back on for the night as expecting drop in temps over next few nights.

Fish still having one feed a day, some flake and a few wheatgerm ,

I use a floating thermometer like the sort they sell for spas, as it moves around the pond I think I get a good average for the whole pond. Plus the fish seem to like playing with it pushing it round the pondThe Daily pond temp thread

I take my readings from mid water just to be safe, but haven't found a lot of difference higher up or in the filter. Don't think there would be masses of difference caused by layering in our relatively small ponds.

Anyway, temps of around 2c and windy last night, 9:30a.m air temp 4c .. pond temp 5.5c
