Snap... I would love double figures again, but now in new pond the extreme drops and rises each evening/night I had in the temp pool are gone, and a relatively level between 8.5 and 9.00 - thinking the 50mm insulation is finally paying for itself a little

Now maybe I need to cut some insulation to cover the windows at night to help keep the chill down, although not covered the pond so may be a waste of time... Hmmmmmm

    Hi Johnathan,

when the ambient temps are say 11c plus i have noticed that the pond increases .2 to .3 of a degree in a 24 hour period so the heater must be having some beneficial/positive effect, when temps drop below 10c the pond either holds temp or may lose .1 to .2 of a degree, when we had the frosty nights and N winds last and daytime temps barely got above 6c the pond dropped .3 of a degree in a 24 hour period so it is helping with the stability and temp reductions appear slower and not so rapid which can only be a good thing, in the midst of winter i will report back what effect it has if any at that cold time, cheers Steve.

Cleveleys, Lancashire, Air temp at 11am was 6c, pond now down to 8c, uncovered, unheated and no insulation on pipework etc. Fish still looking for food especially the little chag but now only getting very small amounts.

I've never covered, even when I was in Caithness in the Far North of Scotland where every year I could guarantee a few weeks of Ice covering the pond. Warmer down here by far so reckon the fish will cope fine but jealous of some of the temps I'm seeing on here. Can't see me ever heating due to finances but now seriously considering covering next year if I can get hold of enough stuff at the right price... we will see.
