This time of year - 50% of pond in sun for around 5 hours. 2600 gallons.

Reached 12.5 today, dropped back to 11.9 now.

I’m in Oxfordshire, have sun on pond from 10am.

    Yesterday started @ 13.5 ended 14.9

    Today started at 14.2

I was surprised I did not hit 15 yesterday but I did do a fairly large water change.

I have been monitoring the temp changes through the day and have been surprised to find that the warmer the ambient temperature does not appear to impact the speed in what the water warms.

Just seems while the ambient temp is warmer than the pond it increases around the same speed regardless

If you compare 6th with 8th

that's interesting, assume the air into the pond has quite an effect ref temp especially if its sucking in warm air all day as well as absorbing direct heat from the sun.

Yes Spring is almost gone! Nice bright sunny days of late, Easter looking good, then back to cold next week?

    Out in the open it’s 18.4°c 49%RH @ 11:35 in the shade it’s 17.1°c.
Inside the polytunnel it’s air temp has been up to 27°c + over the last few days, currently it’s 24.9°c the pond is slowly responding, (remember “thermal mass”) my pond is about 8000 uk gallons,
at two foot down it’s 9.9°c whilst the surface is 13.2°c .

My tunnel sees sunshine from about 0900 through to 1700 ish, but it’s never constant? The last few days, you can feel the strength is increasing.
Koi are ravenous & up to two feeds a day now!

    Stay Lucky guys!
