Pond temp 9c this morning. My pond also is starting to get the sun back on the pond. As the sun starts to get higher. So from now on this will start to help. As it's been shaded all winter.

So fred in the sun would you pull back yours covers to let the heat hit the water and pull them back to tuck them in for the night or leave them all till spring

Leave them on until spring mate.
It's to erratic the weather. To keep taking them on and off.
Take this morning. It 4c but feels like 0c.
And believe me it does.feel like zero. Been out with patch.
Plus the sun is only on the pond for about 2 hours right now.
But as the weeks go on it will be all day.
So covers are staying on.
Also when I bought the cover it said it puts heat inside the cover. Its thermal.
Remember my upper pond is open. No cover on.
And chilling the lower pond. So I am happy
With the temps.
I reckon if I shut that down and ran my internal return line it would be another half degree to 1 degree. So around the 10c mark.
But I decided to run the flow through the top pond.
To see if it keeps the nasties away come april time.

Cheers mate. Mine is like yours getting about 2 hours a day at the moment when it's out . Still never got my covers on properly tbf but the polycarb is 2 colours ? So am hoping the dark side is to help pull the heat in ? But I could just be making that up

hope so too Fred, I lifted a panel and watched them eat some mussels today, I still have my window covered as well so it was nice to see them, the old faithful doitsu Karashigoi came up to say hello he is so friendly, the others came up midwater but as I have not been hand feeding for a while now they seem a bit cautious, they do not like the covers for sure it seems to make them wary...… any how 11.6 today and feeding well...

Hi everyone, been off line for a bit.
My pond is still doing well and the heater kicks in every so often to maintain my desired temperature. Koi all happy and still feeding wheatgerm once a day.
Weather has been rubbish like the rest of the country! Should miss most of today’s rain though. Pond temp is 11.8°c and it is 4.9°c outside

I have my infinity window covered with 2x boards. Single pane. But my conservatory end window is open. As in nothing on it. It is like double
Glazed. I also leave this open for looking for problems on the fish. There in that window all the time.
My fish don t like the covers. As soon as temps start holding 10c. Steady. I will take them off.
Right now there at 9c. My phone says 5c
Feels like 1c. So not bad.
To be fair apart from 2 storms. It's been a mildish winter. I have only seen frost twice.
And no snow at all. Fingers crossed
Fred

9 degrees today, tempted to take the covers off as they’re all hanging around the window staring at me!!
Forecast is quite mild but wet over the next week or so.
