Good morning,
Location East Sussex.
Daytime temps have been between 6 and 9 degree's, today is currently 6 degrees but feels a lot colder, night time temps this week have been down to zero with a few ground frosts, pond temp today is 10.4c fish still swimming around and feeding every morning with the occasional mussel treat in the afternoon, I have found that only a couple of fish eat at the surface but remainder of fish feed on the bottom, since I have brought a pump to convert floating pellets to sinking pellets the fish are much happier eating the sinking pellets, mixture of Medikoi all season with Garlic and wheatgerm and the odd cup of chopped mussels....cheers Steve.

The Daily pond temp thread
South Norfolk
Well Christmas & New year behind us now! Come on Summer?
I know we have a ways to go, but wishing is easy.
Weather has been mostly dry with occasional showers, fairly mild day & nights so pond temps have appeared to be stuck, someone else mentioned I think the monitors have stuck?
Out in the open it’s 9.1°c 82%RH @ 11:40 this morning, in the shade it’s 8.2°c.
Inside the polytunnel it’s @ 10.2°c & the pond water is 7.4°c ( average of three monitors) No feed going in, all Koi looking fine & still looking for food! They are browsing on the pond sides cleaning up the odd bits of algae or slow growing weed?
I am waiting for an appointment, to solve my health probs, sometime in the next few months?
So keep on being Lucky!
& A Happy New Year to you all.

Always done it, let them have a winter to reset the body clocks but by having the heater it gives them a much longer summer. Heater goes on the beginning of March.
Polycarb is doing its job.
Six days in weather has not been cold, pond down to 13.2 this afternoon.

Two weeks now without heat down to 11.6. Dropped 3.4 degrees in two weeks, not the dramatic drop that concerned some.

I'm at 11.6 today. 24000 lph going over the shower must be cooling it

still at 19C heated,
1kw heater is actually pulling 1.3kw
energy monitor is showing 1050 kwh for the heater so it's on for about 10 hours a day on average since i fitted it in november
the overall cost of heating is looking good, only about £110 for the last two and a half months.

Has been holding well lately at 9.9 degree's...… Temp has been dropping over past few days so I expect water will drop too but compared to other parts of the country we are doing well for January, I will check tomorrow....

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
