Been following this day temp thing and not posted before on it anyone else in the South West uk getting this sort of temps I'm a week behind with my you tube videos so the water temp unheated on this weeks video filmed Friday 22 is 9.9 and we have had a nice warm week and this weeks video when filmed on Friday 29 for next week temp stood at 11.2. And back down to 10.3 today after two cold days and nights. the lowest I have seen so far this winter is 9.8 is it just better down hear in the South West or is it me and the way the ponds built setup running and covered

Yes but is this the norm for UK South west Koi keepers I get lots of people saying on the you tube channel there pond temps down to this and that and I'm 4-5 higher than most of them I have never followed the temps across the Uk before

I read that southern Ireland and the southwest of England have the warmest winter temperatures anywhere on the globe at 51 to 53 degrees north or south of the equator.
Anywhere else at this latitude range is significantly colder, especially land locked areas that can be as cold as -50C.
That's the benefit of warm air from the Atlantic.
Don't confuse me with a climate expert, it all started when I googled why it was so cold in winter, and discovered that we are actually very lucky to be so mild.

Know what you mean mate. Taken me 25 years of working to get into a house, and its modest to say the least, and only reason I managed that is cos the area where I bought my flat 19 years ago suddenly became up and coming so it turned a good profit, but still had to move further away from London to convert to a house with garden. Gonna be at least another 5 years before the house is renovated. Obviously the priority in the first few years was building a garage and a pond

Location dartford, time 9:30pm, air temp 1c, pond temp 12c. Pond is heated half hr on and half hr off. Fish still feeding like mad. In fact I have to say since the poly carb has been put on they seem to be more savage when feeding. They are waiting for food as soon as they see the poly carb slid back to make an opening to feed.
With the heater coming on every half hour but the air temp slowly dropping these last 6 weeks Iv noticed my pond temp go from 18 to 16 to 14 to 13 to 12, I’ll be keeping a close eye on the temperature these next few weeks and if I see it drop below 11 I’m going to increase the amount the heater kicks in I think. Fish are very active and fun at the mo so don’t want a change in temp to change this happy fish keeping folks

It’s been a cold few days and my heater has been on quite a bit. But the upside is that my koi are still up and feeding well, although only fed once a day now in the evening. This morning is another frosty start, but the last one for a few days as it is forecast to become briefly milder
Current temp is-0.8°c and the pond is on 11.9°c.

Slightly of topic! But what temperature will fish still grow at if still feeding? Reason I ask is I have a ochiba who I bought from the all England koi show, he was an absolute baby around 4” but have noticed he has grown quiet a lot even though the pond has been around 18c dropping down to 11c. I got him late of the year so he’s only been with me in the colder months i didn’t expect him to grow so soon. The others in the pond havnt really shown growth the past few months but he definetly has grown. Does me a favour tho really as I don’t want him sucked down the bottom drain when the new ponds built
