Damn, that was a good buy, yeah there sure is some exceptions thank god!!
Yeah the filter bay sure helps, get it built
I am still fully covered at night, just to keep the heating costs down - I am utilising a 7.8p kwh night time EV charging taffif now which helps.
Must of been a cold one last night, had a small drop Temp is 14.5

Currently at 17C
pond not covered and polycarb has been put away.
heat pump using about 2-3kw a day at 11p/kWh so 22p to 33p per day.
really nice having the fish out in the open the pond season is too short as it is.

Been having mine open as soon as the sun is on the pond around 10am and shutting around 5pm when we are in from the garden having dinner etc. 14.5 today but hoping to reach near 16 over the next 2/3 days with a bit of luck! The hard bit will then be trying to maintain it when the cooler weather returns

Pond has been holding between 16C and 15.5C since the Weekend. (Still covered at night).
Currently at 15.5C.
This pond cannot hold temps like my old sleeper pond did, but despite that 16C is still a record temperature for April. Here are my previous year April highs since I started recording temps:
2019 = 14C
2020 = 13.5C
2021 = 11.8C
2022 = 12.5
2023 = 11
2024 = 14.3
On all previous years it has been mid-May before hitting 15 to 15.5C.

The same for me RS, around 15-16 all week and covered at night. The fish are happy with their 1 feed a day too!

Pond hit 19 degrees today and if it hits 20 tomorrow, which I think it will, it will be a record temp for me in April.
All fish doing well and eating like piranhas after the obligatory parasites, which are all dealt with for now hopefully,
Even saw some fish chasing, I’ll have to dust off the spawning brushes if the weather carries on like this.

My small 1000gallon pond is unheated and uncovered, the temps reached 14C yesterday., overnight drops to 11C. Fish surfacing and begging for food. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before. Have had to give one parasite treatment but all returned to normal. Just switched filters and now wondering whether it’s worth heating this or next winter.

Pond down to 16 today from 20+ a couple of days ago, the fish definitely didn’t like these temperatures swings, hopefully things will stabilise soon, fingers crossed.

sitting at 18C heated, fish seem happy enough.
holding back with the feeding though until temps get a bit higher just about 100g a day.
but they are constanly 'calling' me for food sending waves of water splashing over the window because they know i'll come running to checkLast edited by davethefish1; 07-05-2025 at 09:15 PM.

Dropped down to just over 16 then back over 20 and now holding between 19 & 20 at the moment. Third FMG for the white spot went in a couple days ago and haven't noticed them flashing so hopefully done the job. With a week around 20 I'm confident I can get up to around 21 so long as the weather man delivers, a month extra growth this season lets hope it continues
