easy does it with feeding in the spring,

the fish want to eat lots, but it takes a while for the filter bacteria to respond to the extra waste.
    so build feeding slowly.

The pond hit 20° today, the fish are feeding like mad. But as you say, Dave gently, does it.

16.9 in mine before the covers went on yesterday, hopefully get up to near 20 by the end of the weekend if not over! Have added the moving beds finally, can only run the pump at 30% currently though as flow is not the best through them so need to add two more filter cages to get them flowing better then can turn up the pump a little. I am happy to have a slower flow but still want to turn over about 10,000L per hour as the pond is 13000L.
I made 2 barrel style moving beds which hold 290l so currently have 150l of K+ over the 2 of them, aiming to gradually get it up to 300l

    scorching here today 25C

ASHP not been on for a few days now. still at 18C
it's forecast to dip a bit next week, so i'm holding off slowly lifting the temp up to 20C+ until next month.

Made it to 16.5c they are going nuts. Getting a bit of flashing after a day of light feeds. And noticing some slight green now and again on the api, think filter might be still catching up

18.8 today in the pond, wonder if it'll top 20 with the next few days over the magical number.

The fish have already started spawning at a couple of my club lakes.

Seems a bit early, especially as it's not been warm until recently.

Pond got to just over 18 yesterday, warming up nicely this morning, the shed door is open wide and it's reading 34.2 inside time to get the sun shades up

Thank you! I’ve been holding back feed and parameters still holding well. Fish have chilled out and gliding around nicely.

Pond hit 22.4° today. Fish seem to be loving it, although I think it’s all change next week.

This weather recently hasn’t been great The Daily pond temp thread

ASHP is keeping the pond at 20.5c and has been coming on for 3-6 hours a day, so not that bad cost wise. Hopefully bump that up next month and get some real growth going.

Couple more ASHP observations. I’ve had to treat for costia and flukes this year, and think having heat helps the fish with treatments by giving them a stable environment and better immune recovery. They seem to have recovered quicker than when I was unheated.

Have been playing around with this Youtube malarkey and did a short video of my pond. Not sure what’s going on with the video quality though….

Pond at 16° today, raining most of the day, outside temp 15°. 2 1/2 weeks ago it was 22.4°.
Fish still feeding but not as much as they were.
    This global warming sucks.

Mine was 17.6 yesterday, think I have topped 20 once or twice this year but been poor otherwise. 1st of June today and probably around 17 degrees!

Pond struggling to get to 19 today and the forecast for next week says isn’t getting colder.
    So much for blazing June.

i've been at 20C for a while now,
but i'm holding off ramping up the heat to summer temps, as i'm going on hols soon.

on the plus side as my economy 7 is down to 12p/kWh heating the pond got a lot cheaper.
... even if june is on track to cost twice what may did
so still only comes in at around £9 for the month.
