i can dream quite a bit bigger than that mate
a detached house 10m wide with adjoining garage on right and workshop on left,
with two filter house 'outbuildings' extended onto the back of the garage and workshop. flanking the 'garden' 30 meters long, with a multiple 10 meter wide bifolding door end connecting the outbuildings.
giving a 30 meter long x 10 meter wide courtyard. fully landscaped with japanese pines and large boulders,
two 20,000 gallon kidney shaped in ground koi ponds left and right of a meandering path, with a japanese bridge over the stream connecting them.
females in one pond males in the other.
and the cherry on top....
a fully automated motorised clear polycarbonate retractable roof in two 30 meter x 5 meter halves joining in the middle to fully enclose the garden over winter and at night.
that retract over the flanking outbuildings and have full spectrum 'daylight' LED lamps to replicate natural sunlight in the winter.
and a GSHP to heat the entire space.
when i win that euro lottery....

12.1 in mine this morning, hopefully although colder the next few days the sun is meant to be out all day so might help warm it through the covers.
Going back to everyones favourite subject of a huge amount of money, for me it would be a nice 100 acre plot of land with a fishing lake at the bottom end, maybe 20 acres with lots of islands, bays and what not stocked with 150 proper carp with minimal other species. Basically a mini sonning or burghfield! Then maybe another 5 acre lake with tench bream crucians etc and a handful of carp in too for other species fishing as of course you would have the time to go whenever! Woodland surrounding and splitting the lakes the lakes so they are well enclosed and peaceful on their own right.
The other end of the land would have the house which would be built to my design with a nice big 50,000l+ pond that is as natural as possible but still clear so it can house lilies and what not and the fish can still be seen easily. This would be heated and have big bifold doors with a nice high front meaning the sun gets in all year naturally to help with the colours.
Then for 'work' I would have a small scale fish farm/dealer where I would import my own koi from Japan on one side and the other side I would use to grow on spawn/small carp from the lake and hand pick the future stockies maintaining the stocking system on site. That way I would have complete bio security for my lake and also first pick of the best koi (in my eyes) from the imports which I could grow on myself to make sure they all reach jumbo sizes
I haven't thought about this much honestly.
Oh and the holiday home in the Colorado mountains too so I can go hiking in summer and snowboarding in winter, then airbnb it the rest of the time!

12.5 in mine too yesterday, the last 2 days I have enjoyed an hour or so out by the pond watching them so it has been nice with the sun although overcast today and wet today. Milder at night the next few days too so may get a bit more warmth but don't fancy icing my knee in the rain!

stunning weather today
it was 20+C around the pond this afternoon...
the pond temp is quickly ramping up as well.... currently at 16.4C
i'm still covering at night as i don't want the temp to start yoyoing up and down.
but if it goes up much more i'll have to, as oxygen demand will go up too...

I know why you left the marine hobbie Dave, it’s a tricky beast to control. Still battling a few issues felt like drowning myself in the tank a few times it got that bad
this pond malarky is extremely easy compared. What do you think?
