    10 degrees today, just in time for it to drop over the week with the sub zero night temps AGAIN. I guess it is winter after all!

    Mine have been really active today, and fed really well. I ended up walking away, they wouldn't stop asking. They would have fed all day!

    The daily sun seems to be helping at the moment, was at 9.6 this morning but 9.8 this evening. Only gets a couple of hours on about half the pond but the sun seems to help!

    No mate as the air temp is cooler than the pond temp, it does amaze me how you gain temps but I guess the fact its covered with the sun on it works a bit like a green house

    9.4 this morning, another cold snap (at night) over for the next week at least with the lowest night temps being around 3 here. Hopefully it's the last of the frosts but we shall see, getting bored of looking at covers on the top and window now!

    Hi Everyone. Air temp 10 degrees, water temp 6 degrees. Fish looking very active asking for food. Fed them, looking very Healthy and happy. Zipping around,not looking sluggish in anyway! Is spring really around the corner?

    it was so nice outside today... 13C by the pond!
    i took my covers off for a bit, and turned the heater on for a few hours so as not to lose any temperature

    the fish loving the covers off, swimming around and much more active...
    but will have to go back on again as soon as it gets dark as the temp will plunge

    12 in the pond today. Had someone come this morning and collect 2 small commons that had spawned in the pond in 2021 to reduce my stock a bit. Still want one or two gone really, only on 13 fish but would prefer some others as a couple gone to crap unfortunately like my Goshiki. A big water change after the fish went followed by some clay

    pond is at 14.5C had the covers off during the day, for the last few days too.
    then back on at night.

    fish have had some treats, lettuce one day and melon another, to break up the pellet monotony

    Mine has been ticking over at 14ish since the covers went on, all is good other than the auto feeder keeps getting blocked and playing up...

    Back to 9.6 now. Decided to sweep the crap off the bottom today from the recent feeding and then give the whole bottom of the pond a good brush to free up any crap I could and get it out the pond. Once this was all stirred up I added some clay to help it clump together and get down the BD. I also stuck the air on and turned the pump up to 50% to get more pull through the drum to remove the muck quicker, roll on spring!

    Despite this week's snow covered cold snap taking overnight ambient temps sub zero, and daily high's of between 5C and 9C, I was surprised to see the pond still holding 8C this week, down now to 7.8C.

    This Week in:
    2020 = 9C (Covered)
    2021 = 9.5C (Covered)
    2022 = no reading till end of March when it was fluctuating between 10 and 8.5 - uncovered.

    Hows everyone else (unheated) coping?
