Was down to 17.8 so stuck the heater on to get back to 18.3 this afternoon and hopefully can maintain that for another week or so with the current forecast. Still feeding 8 times a day on SH balance although may reduce now as could see some crap on the bottom.

    thanks,
    it's more bonsai in training...

it's just a mugo pine bought from a garden centre a couple of years ago and put in a plant pot.
i pruned and wired it, and put it in a plastic bonsai training pot this year.

the branches aren't ideal, i've been pinching out new candles hard to try and get it to back bud, and fill out a bit.
but i like how it's coming along

Pond dropped very quickly from 21C to 15C a couple of weeks back, Koi were not looking good and either not attempting to eat at all, or taking food and spitting back out. It looked so bad I pulled a couple out to scrape, but they were clean.

Been down to 12C the last 3 days.

Basically a 9-10C drop in little over 2 weeks.

This time in 2019 pond was 17C
This time in 2020 pond was 15C
Didn't record September temps in 2021 but on 18th October it was still holding 13.5C.

Either this new pond is badly loosing heat (it never went above 21C all summer), or this year has cooled down a lot earlier.

Koi still not looking great but better than they were. About half are eating, the other half only intermittently interested.

See my post above - same thing. Thought it might be gill flukes at first and went as far as scraping them. Maybe it is digestion problems due to the sudden temp drops.

Paula Reynolds previously said if gill issues can be ruled out then food spitting is a sign of digestion problems.

You've done a great job. Most of my attempts are pitiful, the trees just end up looking a bit tortured
