Not sure on temp, but my mirror spawned again this morning! She was already flat as a pancake and theres definitely more eggs. Loads of blanket weed too, need to stick some resolve in and do a water change as the spawning will have trashed the water again

Well guys summer has finally made it, (a bit late) great to read that most peoples ponds are 20+ its great for the Kois health & growth potential! Mine are on two hourly feeds over twelve hours 8am to 8pm & with loads more AIR going in!

Outside in the open @ 1120 its 27 c & 53% Rh, in the shade its 24.6 c. Inside my polytunnel it been up to 40+ but more like mid 30s currently 30.4 c, & with full ventilation, my pond is sat @ 23.3 c, a steady slow rise, to the extent I have put up my sail shade, on Sunday gone?

    Hoping you are all well

25.1c just now, think it would have been a chunk higher today but I've had an intensive clean of the multibay and done a water change so lots of cooler water gone in.

    Nice !!

I am starting the day at 20.9c - the max I hit yesterday was 21.5 which is good for me lately, fish are happy, UV back on today and ASHP arriving today

Now all I need is to be able to get my electrician here to finish the damn wiring to the panels and inverters so I can use it

My pond is 26.5 according to my thermometer although not sure I believe it as I wouldn't say it feels that warm. Thankfully my Nitrite isn't through the roof today after a 10% water change yesterday from the fish spawning again in the morning, I say 'the fish', it was the same 3 fish which consists of 2 males and my female mirror spawning again! I didn't realise the same fish spawned twice, I always thought the reason for multiple fish spawning in lakes was because they don't all spawn at the same time so different fish, but this is the third time she has spawned, the first was a massive amount of eggs, second none, and then there is some from yesterday which have been picked at. A lot of fish flashed yesterday at one point but I put this down to the change in water chemistry from the spawning as they was pretty much all at it and its only usually my Goshiki which flashes regularly.

Pond is at 23 today and looking a bit frothy from yesterday's dose of Lernex Pro. So hope that this does the trick with the flukes. Fish all seem happy enough, a little flashing yesterday, about an hour after the treatment went in, all grubbing about looking for food and none of them sulking or clamping, so I'm hopeful

If you have a certain level of water temperature, there is something that you should do. This is something that is not written in any textbook, but it is a skill that we Japanese learn naturally as the temperature rises.

It's something you don't often see in our midsummer routine.

    https://youtu.be/HUWjTH0F2fE
Don't they all look like they are intensely searching for food and wanting it?

These are further amplified by feeding techniques as well as water temperature control.
    https://youtu.be/H3aQT7kPCUc
    https://youtu.be/rUOoA5PrI14
By tapping into their feeding instincts, they can eat more food but produce much less faeces due to their improved digestion.
This will increase the aerobic bacteria and the water quality will become stickier and more resistant to deterioration.

This is an example of how we keep our TOSAI heated in winter, as we have shown many times.
What is interesting to note is the way they move and behave.
    https://youtu.be/VGI1sZbM-w4

If you improve the technique, you can make them bigger even in such a water volume.
It is up to you to observe and fine-tune your feeding. You can also improve their feeding behaviour and strengthen their bodies. The best way to do this is to improve their ability.

※I don't know if there is such a thing as adrenaline in fish, but the way we do it is to draw it out and amplify and boost it. If you put more emphasis on that, you can understand why we are water testing is a chore, can't you?

Christ its hotter than hell here today, air temp up around 30c but one more day and its set to break so still refusing to complain lol. The pond will no doubt be nearer the teens next week.

Today though, the pond is at 26.2c, all well except for fine clumping algae taking over the surface of the pond which won't do at all, I only have a little oase floating skimmer and it hasn't come close to keeping up today, so I found a spare 30 minutes and made the worlds roughest skimmer with what was laying around. Glad to say, it may be rough but it cleared the pond within half an hour, only a 25w pump too so won't break the bank with electricity.

I'm that chuffed with it I might make a tidy one and pretty everything up when I get the time, crazy thing is my little oase skimmer is 40 watts and does beggar all compared to this with a jebao pump at 25 watts, and this has a better filter attached rather than just silly pads

Air temperature a little lower today and a nice cool breeze making things more comfortable for us, downside is pond temp is also on its way down, still not bad today at 23.7c but I think it will continue downwards over the next week or so.
