I had to do a dose of resolve yesterday as the blanket weed has flourished in the last few days. I did a half dose about a month or 2 ago but went for a 2/3 dose this time (all I had left) and now my pond looks like a swamp! Hopefully it will get rid of the majority of it though. I checked in the pond when I was waiting for the dog to do its business last night and it looked like my 2 bigger male koi which are both coming into sansai this year were flanking my mirror carp maybe considering spawning. got up to 17 yesterday and down to 16.3 this morning. My mirror still has her eggs by the looks of it this morning so must have been a little bit of groundwork for the big event! Goshiki/Asagi/mirror fry would be an interesting variation, what would we call them? Mirrasgiki?

Not a bad day here at all.. pond was 12.6 this morning now sat at 14c, Bit of a jump but I've been busy changing a heater plug on the old car and forgot to open the polytunnel doors. Fish don't seem to mind though.

    13.5c this morning.

Daytime temp predicted is around 13c and no sun forecast which is a shame because I'd really like the pond to start sitting above 14c soon.

    Nice

Mine has hit 13.00 today now that the sun has came out, I think the splash guards make a nice breeze protection from the surface of the water, maybe

Pond at 13.1c at 9a.m so down a touch on yesterday, expecting to fall a little more yet as only cloud and rain forecast for a few days and air temps generally set to hover between 9c and 12c , ah well, at least the temperature swings should be minimal I suppose.

Keeping mine around 16 now. Weather continues to frustrate us all going forward for the next week at least here. At least the night temps are better now though!

so.. 13.9c just now I think.

I say think because I left my thermometer out in the rain last night and its kaput. Will order another, for now I'm using an infrared one to take a reading but may be a little less accurate as it isn't actually in the water.

13.8c at 9a.m, so at least pretty steady.

Oh, I bought some Dutch Rush and pond weed this morning to join the Flag Iris, Water Crawfoot, and another plant whose name I cant remember in the little top pond. Hopefully they will help mop up the nitrates and phosphates as well as giving a spot for Dragonflies etc to visit. I hate watching the Dragonflies try to get at the main pond only to be thwarted by the net so I'm hoping this will give them an area they can use.

I am keeping around 16 in the am then turn the heater off and get up to about 17 in the day when the sun is out. I wonder if we will ever get summer!

I see this, daily mail article on facebook......I don't need to say anything else on that! Every year its 'worst winter on record' followed by hottest spring and 500 day tropical summer
