They look like Hariwake to me as well, but the picture isn't the best.
Colours look vibrant.

Although it seems that most of the varieties have exhausted their potential for breeding, a very recent trend has been to replace the originally red varieties with yellow instead of red.
There seems to be some keenness on the part of some of the breeders, particularly the smaller ones, to add to the uniqueness of their breeding.
This list summarises some of them.
rare variety KOI
In recent years, the trend has been.
For example.
KOHAKU・紅白 → KIJIRO・黄白
KUJYAKU(KUJAKU)・孔雀 → KIRIN・麒麟
SHUSUI・秋翠(秋水)→ KISHUSUI・黄秋水
These varieties are already familiar to us after years of fixation.
Very recently we have also begun to see varieties with similar concepts, though not yet widely established.
KIASAGI・黄浅黄
KIGOSHIKI・黄五色
KISHOWA(KIMISHIGURE)・黄昭和(黄美しぐれ)
As for the KIYAMATONISHIKI you mentioned about, there are orange and yellow types of HARIWAKE, so it is possible to breed them but I have not seen it so far.
One of the reasons that may be preventing the emergence of this variety is the fact that YAMOTONISHKI itself is not actively bred due to its low emergence and establishment rate and low profitability.
Is this not why professional breeders are reluctant?
If that is the case, then I would encourage amateur breeders, should any be interested, to boldly venture into uncharted territory.Last edited by Naoki Atsumi; 11-11-2025 at 01:59 PM.

You could be right, but I've never seen a bowl full of just bright yellow ones before, normally some are more orange.
They are being sold by Kitsu Koi and advertised on their facebook page, but they do not mention the breeder or variety.
There is one in the bowl that does look like a proper Wada Kirin, the rest are not of the highest quality and some are Ginrin, others are Doitsu and I haven't seen Doitsu or Ginrin Kirin before.
There's 3 or 4 videos of them on their Facebook Page:

HIKARI UTSURI KOI
On the other hand, KINSHOWA, which is yellow-based
or KINKIUTSURI, which is based on MUJKASHIOGON,
has been around for a long time and is not distinguished by a name.
It is rather a rare, old-fashioned species.

I think normally it is split into 2 separate words, like Yamato Nishiki, and typically a Sanke based Koi.
Somewhat beyond my knowledge as to where the name comes from or exactly what Koi it refers to, but google images show many different variations:

One of the Koi in your original bowl photo did look like a Kirin, but the rest were hard to identify.
