How much water is your drum using?
My water bills have been quite high since having a drum so wondering what ones work out the best.
I thought it may be useful for us all to share our current water usage for fellow enthusiasts. Info needed:-
Pond size
Drum filter model
Your LPH rate through drum
Daily feed rate in grams
Flush frequency
Water usage (daily or per wash)

I have an easy drum and in summer will probably wash every 15-20 mins maybe a bit less. Uses 2l per wash roughly. In winter it can literally go days without a wash but I dont feed below around 10

Hi Diablo Dave,
just a thought, have you got a trickle in running? if so have you measured how many LPH this is using.... its quite eye opening over a week what can be used if its running a bit heavy......
My BD300 is set up using its timer, for each clean it does 2 full rotations of the drum then it shuts down, this is ample cleaning and ensures an overall even clean around the drum circumference, at the moment its cleaning every 35 mins, in winter every 120 minutes as feed is once a day, once its warmed up and feeding regimes increase it will clean 2 to 3 times an hour, i am running a salamander pump to the spray bar for extra spray pressure as my mains is not the greatest, my total water bill is £75 a month.

£75 a month is not bad, they have put my unmetered rate up to £800 a year now.
The water board have been out 3 times now to install a smart water meter. but told 'em to sling it, as the stop cock is on my drive not the pavement.
they showed me the land registry drawing that shows a pavement all the way around our close, but it hasn't got one

I thought my water bill was expensive at £55 a month! I recently found a leak on my moons supply and two of the toilets so hopefully that will be going down from now on!
Skimmer to bd or not
Yes exactly that BD needs a proper ball valve. Skimmer is ok with slide valve as it's not so...
