TBH that sort of filter will never manage a pond your size with Koi. I'd say research and decide what would suit your layout, but be prepared for something that takes up a lot more space and of course will cost a lot more. On the bright side you can stop wasting money on pond bombs and save that towards your new filter, your fish will thank you

Nexus or an easy pod would really change your pond dramatically.

Use a very strong dose of pp .Potassium permanganate. . So in a nexus jet wash it all out making sure to get all the little hidden bits including drain work , close all valves and fill the nexus with water and a VERY strong dose of the pp . Leave to soak 24/48 hours. . Some one else might better advise on wether to have the air running when soaking ??

Drain rise and should be good to go

I am mate . Still not on with a drum but dose a good job for a lot less money . . If you haven't already ad advise you get eyes on a nexus in person . They have a big ol unit . I have mine on 9000lr /2k gal and tbf over stocked and it works well

Just looked at the original post at a 1k gal pond maybe a easy pod would cope and could always add a tempest after it or apex koi have a pre filter that drops in the easy pod to help with fines .

Would be a lot less filter foot print

The old pressure filter will be doing barely anything for mechanical filtration. Bio wise I would just chuck the sponges in the pond for a couple of weeks and change over to the easipod instantly.

Calm the feeding right down to keep a close eye testing every couple days . Thing is yes new filter but there is a massive amount of good bio on the pond walls pipes ect . You could get a little rise in your tests but shouldn't ne anything like NPS

If you can get the filter swop done ASAP the temps will be in your favour for once
