    Heat Pump Sizing

    Hi Folks

Based on your experiences , what is the ideal size ASHP for a 2500 gallon pond ?

I`m looking at the Thermotec Inverter range and the sizing they give says 9KW should be fine , but wondering if the 12KW would be more economical and quieter

    What do you think ?

I run a 9kw on a slightly larger pond, most of the time it's fine but it does struggle when the temp drops to about zero - go for the bigger one.

I run a 12Kw Thermotec Invertor on a 3000 gallon pond and its spot on. Never had an issue with it. Go with the bigger option if you can.
2,700 Gallon, Infinity Window, Aquasource Synergy 35 Drum, 12Kw Thermotec Invertor, Amalgum UV.

    I have a 12kw thermotec inverter on 2500 gallons.
you need to size it for the worst conditions in winter not the the best in summer.

as it's an inverter it will run much more,up to 5000 gallons, but it is more economical at lower power.
mine generally runs at 500 to 700 watts. for a few hours a day actual power wattage.
you get increased COP at less than 60% output and best COP at 25% of maxiumum output

Thanks Dave . So worth spending the extra to save on running costs . Makes sense .

Also a larger unit has a bigger evaporator, this makes a big difference in winter.
the larger evaporator allows the compressor to not to run so hard, meaning it is at less risk of icing up in very cold conditions
