I would leave them, your neighbour may overfeed them and make matters worse.
I have in the past left mine for two weeks no problem with no food.

Presume this is when it is warmer and they start feeding.

My jebao auto feeder let me down whilst on holiday this summer. Luckily I had a friend feeding my the cat. He's not pondy at all, but he noticed, so fair play to him. He just chucked a handful in everyday. Perfect.

I have my daughter and son in law locally to check on things if I need them to- I can monitor things remotely from cameras and a device with SIM card that dials me if power from drum panel goes down.

I did have to ask him to go round in the recent storms- we were in the Maldives and 3 of my 4 pond covers got blown off into the garden. This bashed the feeder out of its bracket, and knocked the clock off the filter house wall into the pond, so I had to get him to use my big net to fish it out. It also broke off one of the lights on the filter house, so that needed isolating at the plug.
The fish were fine.

I do have weights on all 4 corners of the covers. I might have battened down the hatches before going away if the weather forecast has not seemed so mild. We didn’t see it coming the week before
No harm done except to his abs, having to put back massive panels in wind on his own (my grandson is 8 but not big enough to help with that job!).

I would probably be more concerned leaving them in summer where there is more potential for one to get sick etc.

What about the Yorkshire koi society,Google them,very good society and someone maybe near you to help.
