Strange one, any ideas??
So got a bit of an odd situation going on in pond, my sturgeon is acting strange, even more so than usual just constantly bobbing up and down/tailwalking around pond
Also, I ended up with lots of small roach/rudd in my pond a couple of years ago by mistake (don’t ask)
and over the last couple of days they have started dying off one by one, fished one out couple of days back and another 2 today
Putting 2 and 2 together, I know on some medications it states not suitable for “other” pond fish ie Rudd/orfe & sturgeon so what exactly does affect these other fish and not koi?
Koi seem ok ish for now, slowed down with temp drops but seem ok looking for food etc
Air stones filtration etc still working no changes there, and haven’t used any treatments in pond, struggling to think what the issue could be

How old is your sturgeon. I had one that was about 18 years old, a big bugger at 4ft 10inch, and started acting similar to yours, tail walking and jumping. I rang a vet that specialises in fish and he said sturgeon are prone to brain tumours in their later years. Unfortunately I lost mine as he jumped out of the pond and I didn’t find him in time.

I’d be testing the water, my pond ph drops sometimes when we’ve had a lot of rain?

After a pH crash, the fish will be suffering from acidosis and be very stressed so it's important to raise the pH correctly rather than just add sodium bicarbonate without regard to how quickly the pH is raised or you may cause even more stress and raise the level of toxic free ammonia to a harmful value. This is how to recover from the crash correctly:

It was indeed a ph crash, I tested this morning and it was 5 ish!
Tested the tap water which was 7.0-7.5
I’ve changed a bit of water through the nexus and added what bicarb I had to hand, I’ll restock with more today and test/repeat tomorrow
Just one more roach dead this morning other stuff sulking but still alive including sturgeon
