Drum Booster Pump Leaking...
It's said they come in three's...
So....
1) drum motor burnt out
2) which also took out Aqua Forte vario 30,000
3) booster now pump leaking.
hoping this is the last of it now having replaced a drum motor, both vario pumps and now a booster pump....
I tried stopping the leak without stripping the pump out but not having it. so bought a new T.I.P GP3000 pump.
strangely it was £160 - £170 at koi dealers but only £95 from https://www.waterpump.co.uk/gp-3000-inox-garden-pump
with two day delivery...
i'm going to strip the pump down and see if i can repair it and keep it as a spare.
should be one of two things, front housing O ring, or rear bearing pair of seals.
only issue is german parent company doesn't mail spares to UK.
so asking the pump supplier if they do parts...

Opened up the pump housing today to find it has corroded to hell..?
thought it looked like limescale from the leak, but acidic limescale cleaner doesn't touch it, seems to be aluminium/monkey metal oxide?
dug most of it out with a screwdriver and jet washed it to get it clean and looks cratered like the surface of the moon
can't seem to get spare parts in the UK, and emailed thew manufacturer in Germany but no reply yet.
measured the O ring as the original one has a flat on one edge all the way around which i think has caused the leak.
and ordered the nearest size i could get from amazon, see how it goes when i get it.
but i wouldn't use the pump long term even if i do fix it, casing looks like it's liable to break...

Just remembered what this is.... galvanic corrosion.
stainless steel and aluminium with an electrolite (water leak) eats the aluminium.
the daft thing is there is a stainless bell housing on the inner edge going to the back of the housing that holds the impellor...
if they had just extended it up to the outer edge of the flange, there would have been no aluminium/stainless steel touching and no corrosion...

Just had an Email back from TIP germany.
Sehr geehrter Herr davethefish,
1 x Art. NR. 70293 O -Ring Preis: 2,68 €
Zzgl. Versandkosten: 16,60 €
To be fair at least i can get parts if needed
but the €16.60 for posting a €2.68 O ring put me off,
so i bought one i think will fit from amazon for a few quid.
I can get a new aluminium casing end (27) for €23.80 but postage would probably be more expensive, round out about €50plus and have to rebulid it myself.
As i can get a whole pump with 2 year warranty for £95, it hardly makes it worth while repairing...

Any off the shelf pipe that fits...
As martin said, if you just want to convert it to 110mm soil pipe you can get a 4" pressure to...
