    Well I’ve started something

Thank you to all of you who have read and replied to my two posts about kh and bacteria infections.
Some sound input from all and I take it all in
I think we all do something different with our ponds and koi no matter where in the world if I had the opportunity to go to Japan and see how they do it there I would somethings I’ve herd how they farm the koi are they have a constant supply of spring water which we unfortunately don’t also do the Japanese have ponds like ours in there garden and how do they go about keeping them what filter etc do they use ?.

I like the idea of keeping it simple with any fish keeping I have a 8500ltr above ground sleeper pond which is 10ft by 10ft so a lot of surface area for them to swim, as for filtering I’ve a gravity fed nexus 220 with two returns and a skimmer line with a sieve which is returned via a baki shower.
Currently no cover over the pond that will be next years project as my last pond had a roof and I had virtually no problems for the four years it was running only had fluke once and that came from a new fish .
My water has always been stable kh is 3 out of tap and 2 in the pond ph 7 I don’t heat the main pond but the qt grow on pool I do , it’s a shame there is not much of a koi club community up here in the north west and after going to Newark last week I joined bkks and would love if we could have a show up here again as I think there is enough people around to put on a good show does anyone know if the Liverpool club still active?? .

Had to treat three koi today with ulcers and think it’s definitely a skill every koi keeper needs fingers crossed I did it right good old YouTube lol

    That's a brilliant idea.
I know that many people from your country visit Japan, but they all seem to think that they are gaining knowledge of the Japanese way of doing things by visiting breeders in special mountain areas and through commercial interactions, but they are not the ones who should be observing and learning, but ordinary people like yourself. I have never heard of anyone visiting and having a close personal relationship with hobbyists who are general enthusiasts like yourself. I can't help but hope that if you are given such an opportunity you will gain a great deal of insight as a pioneer.
