    I can't help thinking,
Do you have a Koi pond?

Why do you think that Japanese people don't test their water? The sensible ones will do. The breeders certainly do test their water. We have plenty of evidence for that.

I am not testing as much as I should. It's due to laziness, nothing else. I suppose, now I have gone anoxic, nothing really changes. But I still test every so often.

There are tons of numptys in the UK that don't test their water at all. We don't copy British Morons, the same as we won't copy Japanese Morons. Why do you keep advocating for them?
I certainly wouldn't advocate my behavior for the same reason. The difference is, I know I'm being stupid and haven't confused that and imprinted it on to my whole nation and used it as anecdotal evidence for Internet forums.

On related note, Taro Kodama san, is a Japanese koi breeder who is now President of the Kodama Koi Farm he set up in Hawaii. He enrolled himself and all his employees on the Koi Organisation International Certified Koi Keeper suite of courses which includes my on-line Water Quality course.

After passing my course with flying colours (no surprise), Taro san emailed to ask my advice on which test meter would be the best to buy to test the water quality of his breeding ponds. He was clearly a convert to properly testing the water quality with an electronic test meter.

Impossible, no breeders test or treat water nor do they own microscopes!

I don't live in America and I don't test water. Therefore, nobody in America tests water.

    Has exactly the same rationale!

I Live in Rochdale Lancashire, my tap water KH is 0.5 GD I have a drum and an auto top up to replace the water the drum uses. If I didn’t check this regular and buffer KH I would certainly have a PH crash
Just think of the scenario of my pond water becoming the same as tap water due to poor monitoring then fish and filters taking it even lower, PH crash and loss of fish inevitable.
