    Shimmies.

I treated myself to a nice little Sakai Kohaku last year. A few months back it developed a shimmy, as most Kohaku in my pond seem to do.
Anyway I bowled her up today for a health check, following recent parasite problems. Gave her a measure up and was about to put her back in the pond, when I decided to have a closer look at the shimmy, gave it a couple of scrapes with my thumb nail and most of it came off Happy Days. A little dab of Tamadine and back she went.

Impressive growth as well, considering that my pond is unheated. She was 20 cm when I got her in June last year, now 34cm.

Personally I would leave them especially if they are Sakai, all the Sakai kohaku with what I thought was a shimmie I've had over the years have developed into sanke.

That's interesting, will see how my one develops then

I also have a Gin Rin Benigoi with shiny new shimmy but this one would not scrape off and on close inspection is just like a little patch of proper sumi.
