    Quarantine Procedures

    Hi all
Just wondering what quarantine procedures do people follow for new koi before introducing them into the pond.
Length of time, use of salt, doing scraps, etc.

When KHV first became recognised as a serious problem in the UK I wrote an article about it for my website on the link below. Towards the end is a “heat ramp” quarantine procedure that hasn’t changed over the years since then and is now adopted by dealers and hobbyists who want to ensure that no diseases, including KHV, are introduced into their ponds.

I recommend that all hobbyists either perform this heat ramp procedure for new additions for themselves or buy from dealers who guarantee that they have properly heat ramped their new stock at least twice before mixing them with other stock and offering them for sale.
