Not this particular one but similar,I use 2 x 10 watt on the length of the pond and work well from Ebay.

A lot more expensive now, think I paid about £20 for six and put the rest round the garden.

I just use a couple of 'daylight' LED floodlights from screwfix.. think they are 30w each but 10w would be fine as well.
then plug them in with a TAPO wifi plug, and use the alexa app to control them and set up routines or timers...plus you can voice control with an echo dot as well.

Have you mounted straight down or angled across the pond ? Thinking of how to reduce the glare so as to still see the fish

I angled mine away from me and no glare, just wired in like an ordinary light no fancy bits works great.

In my opinion the only 'right' way to really do this is to use underwater lights. Reflection and refraction are just too much of an issue for enjoyable viewing underwater imho.

You also need a lot less power and generate a lot less light pollution but -- just a personal view.

you might like it but koi don't, as they don't have lids to shield thier eyes from intense side light

slightly angled back about 700mm in from each side, seems to have a good spread with no glare

That's total nonsense if I may be so bold , light is light but output works more efficiently underwater so less output required . Colour and wavelength are important but brightness is just a matter of output. You just don't need as much 'output' underwater.

For me with not having a drum the idea of HIGHLIGHTING up every little fine in the water coloum is a big no no . . Also from reading numerous literatures I would tend to agree with dave on this one but always happy to be proven wrong ( and it happens a lot lol )

This is what a forum is all about tho difference of opinion and discussion

    Very true Johnathan well said.
I can see what Eme is getting at but to me it is a lot of myther to go underwater and I did hear somewhere about koi not liking underwater lights.

If you have a bright torch then try that mate to see the best position.

For the record , as I have probably not been clear.

    - I don't advocate the use of any artificial lighting at all of any description. I never do.
    - We could spend many years discussing the value of both natural ( sun and moon) light and artificial lighting on in-water marine and freshwater life.
    - I was simply saying that underwater lighting can be more efficacious and efficient than above water lighting if we really want to create unnatural viewing capability of our fish -- that itself is purely a matter of aesthetics . The 'poster' is just misleading.
