    Question Getting Koi from Indonesia

So i'm looking at getting some Goshiki, and i stumbled upon a place called Astroblitar Koi. I've contacted them on facebook etc and they've sent me videos of the fish, but it seems quite cheap. Some very nice looking 24cm Goshiki for £20, and a box of up to 10 fish delivered from Indonesia to my door in the UK for £64.

Wondering if anyone has ever gotten any fish from there/ what was your experience... or your thoughts on if this seems too good to be true.

    Thank you,

    - Waz

Just remember the old adage if it seems to good to be true it usually is.
Let us know what happens, don't forget to quarantine and heat ramp before putting in your stock pond!!

I thought there were import controls that made it a challenge bringing fish into the country?

I agree, but i've been sending them messages and they seem to think it's fine, bit of a long winded response, but i'm going to throw their explanation here just in case anyone is interested. I'm thinking if i only order say two fish, it'll be £100 total which isn't the end of the world if it doesn't end up being legitimate...

This offer may be genuine but I've seen a few FaceBook posts recently that say they paid foreign suppliers and the koi didn't arrive.

You'll be saying goodbye to your £100. So it will be much more costly than paying one of our dealers.
    7500 litres
    Filtreau combi with uv.
    Some koi

If you are buying direct without any recommendation I would stay clear.
I know that other countries have started breeding koi. I once bought some that were bread in Thailand but that was from someone that set up in Leigh and he imported in bulk. I can remember speaking to him and he said that one fish per box was culled and examined when imported Nothing wrong with the koi that I bought and were cheep as well but he is no longer trading as far as I know

Not sure if it's the same guy but I bought from a guy in Leigh and he was sound, imported from Tailand and shut his shop at 3 PM to get his daughter from school.
    Koi were fine no probs.

But Waz,would be wary buying blind as you have no backup if things go tits up.

    Hi John,

After reading the replies here i've decided not to bother. Will just be patient until next year and see what's available then i reckon. (Even though they were some lovely koi!)

Massive thanks to everyone for their contribution, it's really appreciated and most likely saved me some money

    Apologies for the sideways comment.
The year before last, a dealer I had never heard of in Essex uploaded a video like this and I wondered if they were going to start actively dealing with Indonesian breeders.
I had planned to visit them when I had the chance when I visited the UK last year, but decided against it as I hadn't heard anything from them since, but I was wondering if anyone knows what they have been up to?
