    Temp for sedating

The kusuri sedate says not to use below 14deg any one used it lower?

I have one that needs sedating and treating but am at 9 deg.

    Did you see any?

I've just booked to go to Norway to see them. Probably would've been a tad cheaper to just drive up north.

Properly cold today and I'm already fed up with it.

I have sedated at lower temps John. Around 8-9 I seem to remember, that particular fish is still with me. It was one of those situations where I didn't really feel that there was an alternative, so took a chance.

    Hi

I agree with G Mac I had one with a wound a few years ago and they are so torpid at the moment that a wet towel over their heads usually keeps them quiet. I used Korda Propolis Carp Treatment 30ml over the winter to keep the wound from getting infected and it healed a treat once the temps increased in spring. I believe the Koi don't have any immune system below 12 deg so their wounds won't heal until the water temps increase so it's not a good time going into winter to have an injury all you can do is keep the wound clear of algae and sealed from the water.

If it’s a knock john can you not just bring it up in a net and spay the area with Tampdine.

Thanks for all your advice, its a bacterial infection which I have stupidly overlooked.
A few raised scales only on one koi,am thinking maybe treat in the net but a few scales probably need pulling so sedation is the easy way.

Wonder what the problem is with sedating at lower temps.
Kusuri also say to store over 15 deg.

I have no idea why it doesn't work, I have tried it doesn't seem to desolve properly .
