Iíve just been to check on the pond and the tarp that was covering it has taken a block with it and thatís gone into the pond leaving a dent thatís gone through the glassing.
    Final pond build!

Always something to kick you in the teeth.

    Sorry to hear that.

The same thing happened to me. I was so pi**ed off, especially as I was absolutely sick of the fibreglass fumes by that point (I diy'd it) and thought I'd seen the back of the glassing.

But on the bright side doing a spot repair shouldn't take that long. I managed to do a spot repair pretty quickly - literally about an hour and I'm rubbish at it.

So hope you can get it sorted soon.

Will be a patch job so not take too long.
Iíve lowered the water level to below where it is.

Took me nearly all day as my sump pump was blocked with a stray nitrile glove and then it wouldnít pump as strong so had to get it exchanged for a new one. Then the pond vac stopped sucking water.

Will probably lower the water a bit more tomorrow as itís hopefully getting repaired on Thursday.

Could have been much worse. Could have been the window that got damaged.

Iíve left about 9Ē water in the pond so that should keep it down, Iíve just drained it to just past the dent.

The dent has been repaired but I have come across another issue that I am hoping is easily solved.

So the BD dome nearest the window is too low.
I can only just get one finger under the lip of it.

My thoughts are either that I cut it with a hack saw blade (bearing in mind I canít completely empty the pond due to the outside water pressure will lift and split the fibreglass)
    1. cut the stem and reconnect with a rubber straight connector and a piece of pipe inside as a wedge to make up for the extra couple of cm.
    Or
    2. Cut it then just use solvent weld straight connector for more rigidity (but wonít be able to glue it as will be under water immediately)
    3. Use solvent weld connectors but use screws to hold them in place
    Or
    4. Leave it all alone but use some wedges to try lift the lip more.
    5. Leave it and hope for the best

    What would you do?

    Welcome for any other ideasÖ.

One finger under the lip is ok as is 1/2 ins, depends how thick your finger is though Laura.
If you pull the dome up a bit is it ok then?
You could put some ct1 or underwater curing silicone round the stem then push it down to your required height letting it then cure.

You could cut the stem off then a straight solvent connecter then some fresh pipe cut to your length.

Maybe some others have some suggestions, good luck with it Laura.

I only have little fingers Final pond build! is a tight fit when palm down which would be 1cm at a push.

Itís solvent glued in place so wonít lift.

Tut tut, thought you would know better to not glue it down, should have a small blob of silicone to hold it Laura.

Good if you have sorted it though

Sounds like about the same as my bottom drain clearance and I get plenty of flow through it (my pump’s maximum flow is lower than the bottom drain can provide). When I was building mine that was the recommended depth. I’d think it’ll be fine, especially if your wedge has lifted it a bit more.

The way I figured it is the pipe from the bottom drain is 4” diameter (2” radius) so as long as the area of the dome ring aperture is at least equal to the area of the pipe (2*2*pi) then it’s enough.
If your bottom drain base has a radius r and the dome aperture has a height h then the aperture area is (2*pi*r*h).

Superb build Laura, you should be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved.
I have pond envy as well as skills envy!
Best wishes with the rest of the build.

Cracking build, looking forward to seeing this full of fish. Iím the same added the silicone and then in a rush left what I thought was too small a gap, around a little finger. Tried to pull it out but no joy. Havenít had any issues at all with it and get flow rates up to 10,000. Will keep an eye on blanket weed with a yearly scuba session and a clean
