    Nitrate Testing

    Hi

Now this is a pond/aquarium question as I nitrate test both. I have 2 new test kits one from API and one from maidenhead aquatics (own brand) but I think its NT labs looking at it.

My problem is and YouTube videos doing comparisons confirm this "They are rubbish". So I run 2 identical tests from the same water sample API gives 40ppm plus and the other test kit give about 2.5ppm.

So what one is correct? I understand it is not an exact accurate reading but one is telling me all is ok the other is saying water change NOW.

    Any help?

    Andy

my API nitrate test kit has always been accurate as a dropper test can be.
i was at 40ppm plus a few months ago, now at a low level, zero on the kit, but anything <5ppm is fine this time of year.
