    strange nitrite results

    Good morning...
as per the title checked the parameters yesterday and to my horror the Nitrite test went deep purple within 2 mins but ammonia test remained ok..... so re tested the Nitrite but this time result came back just fine.... this is the second time this has happened over past month.... i thoroughly wash out test tubes and can only think there must of been some residue left over in the tube from previous test which affected the latest test.... or i only put in 4 droplets instead of 5 - this i doubt as i am very careful when doing my testing but i suppose its possible..... kit in date etc.... all other checks were fine.

id say you're probably spot on with something left in the tube.
or some concentrated reagent in top of the dropper bottle.

if second test is fine i'd do a third to make sure
