I had the same the year before last and started treating in the January right through till November! Same last year too as I was treating double doses every 10 days right up until we moved in August!

What's your Nitrate and Phosphate levels like?

Blanket weed is weird for me too.
Didn't have it at all for about 10 years then had it really bad, strands were like a meter long. Didn't get it for a couple of years then had it again last year took a few treatments to get rid!!

Mine would block the retro BD which meant I had to unscrew the union above the water level and then lift the retro bd, pipework and EA 20K pump up and out of the pond. Spend 30 minutes cleaning the BW of it then putting it back again. What a pain that was to do

Maybe if you are lucky your covers are stopping the UV getting to the water and as a result stopping the BW growing?

I'm thinking its the sun light getting in so may look at a top sheet in blue or green to lay over the covers one end . the top part by the filter house has a tiled roof so that is shaded over all year round . Only had a small growth of b/w last year and one dose sorted that out .
