Can you imagine the mess if it was replies to years old existing threads. whole forum would be out of kilter.

standard tools on most forums is to ban spammers including I.P. address to prevent them just making a new account.

i was gobsmacked when i found that out when i was made a mod on a carpfishing forum
...where did you say that secret fishing spot is...?

but it takes a lot of work to keep up with forum security patches and upgrades plus clamping down on spammers,
probably why most forums have a few active mods on all day, or restrict the account activation to pass vetting first.
