Drum Filter
Morning guys. i am looking to buy a new drum filter to put on my new pond i already have a profidrum which hasnt lost a beat in 5years but they are expensive compared to the burton drum and the synergy drum. What is the best drum out of those two in your opinion.

I think it would be hard to rate one above the other personally.
Personally I would go with whichever suits your set up best for the money.
I looked at both and was erring towards the Burton drum but was attracted by the aquasource because it only needed to be 12cm above water level which saved adding another course of bricks to the filter pit.
In the end a 2nd hand aquasource 35 came up from a forum member complete with amalgam so I bought that.
Been running 7 months now, hasn't missed a beat, handles 22k flow rate with ease.
Things I don't like about it:
Amalgam bulb very quickly ruins the drum seal which is expensive at £35 a pop and some grief fitting it, I think this problem is solved on the newest drums. I made a UPVC cover for my drum seal and no problems since.
The other thing I don't like is the waste shoot design causes a huge build up of crap on the top edge of the shoot and it quickly starts to smell. A great way to get bacterial issues if you don't clean it regularly. However some other drums have the same problem and I don't know if the Burtons drum does or not.
So again, go with whichever suits your set up based on price.

Had the synergy and 2 profis. You just can’t compare. Can’t you use your existing profi on your new pond
