    Name the variety #2

Following the last name the variety post, I have another one from our recent nisai harvest for you to peruse. And once again the question is.... what variety do you think this is?

If I spawned this I would keep it because it looks interesting, but I would fear it may not have any intrinsic value.

To me it looks like an Asagi/Kujaku mix and I can't guess what variety it might be, or might be called.

I suspect producing and refining them consistently would be difficult and not worth the effort.

Appreciate others may love it, hopefully I'm the minority.

Can someone explain why this isn't just a Kujaku?

I wouldn't give it a second thought. I seem to have one "just like it" but what would I know!

It doesn't look metallic, so that is probably why it doesn't fit the term.

A great range of thoughts noted through the thread.

It's a non metallic koi, white base with red pattern and matsuba scale feature.

If it was metallic, then yes, this is ofcourse a Kujaku.

It's actually from a Kujaklu spawning, but is not metallic. Most of these types are graded out as fry, but occasionally one turns up that has superior quality and it's grown on to nisai like this one. We had one of this type place very well in last year's All England Koi Show by a customer who'd take it from us in our small koi mix range , and grown it to around 40cm and then won the kawari show class in size 3. One of the judges said it was a taki asagi, however, another judge didnt agree.

I'm not sure what the correct variety name is!

When we breed koi, we have the set types that we try to conform with. But, every now and then something pops up that is a living jewel and from my perspective, a nishikigoi, but doesn't conform to the variety types. This koi is one of those.
