    Thanks Gents,

I've already looked at that the Hailea CP-60 so I searched on line and saw a lot of advertising and a few YouTube promos but I couldn't find anything about how long they take to recharge from flat or what "up to 8 hours running on the battery" means in practice or how noisy they are.

The importer said they should recharge in 3 to 4 hours but one YouTube video showed a label on the box which said "Recharge time ≥ 12 hours" (recharge time greater than or equal to 12 hours ???) so that's why I was asking if anyone had any experience with battery back up pumps.

Anyway, bottom line, I phoned Mathew at Clearwater. He uses them and gave me all the information I wanted along with his approval for the idea of it aerating and recharging through the day when the power is on then continuing to aerate during the night when the power is disconnected.

So thanks again everyone it looks like this lady's problem is solved.

My next option would have been something related to Dave's suggestion but it was more of a low energy solution lol

You make up a long air line from the pond to the bedroom with a Y on it in the bedroom. Fit an outward flowing NRV between the Y and the airline to the pond, an inward flowing NRV from the Y to a short airline and finally a short airline from the Y which she could stick I her mouth over night and as she breathes in and out the NRVs allow the air in and out into the correct airlines and the pond gets aerated lol

She might need to sleep wearing a gimp mask so the airlines stay in place though lol
