Fertiliser ?
Question....
Has anyone used a Fertiliser for your pond plants ?
I have a huge veg filter with all kinds of stuff and its all slowly growing away but some of it seems a bit lacklustre and weak. Now I have a planted aquarium with fish and since I started to add Fertiliser all the plants look great and all the algae has been reduced.
So my pond has water parameters similar to the tank before the Ferts. went in basically zero Nitrate and Phosphate, by bringing the tank up to about 20ppm Nitrate things have improved so should I bring the pond up to 20ppm Nitrate?

What's your method to get readings of 0ppm Nitrate before the veg filter? Do you have one of those trickle tower things before the veg filter?

There should be plenty of the nutrients that plants need already in the pond water especially as plants "prefer" ammonia (NH3) to nitrate (NO3) because they have to convert NO3 to NH3 anyway before they can metabolise it into cell tissue which takes energy, whereas they can use NH3 directly. (I can explain that if anyone wants a headache)
Have you used an algae/blanketweed treatment?

Thanks Mankey
I was just going by what has happened in my aquarium of late, 0ppm Nitrate seemed to be bad plants stopped growing and seemed to be dying back. After 2 weeks of throwing all sorts of Ferts. in the tank boom its like a changed tank.
So Having such low Nitrate in my pond I was thinking is it holding the plants and weed back so should I add some juice.
My top up tap water is 40ppm about 30 litres of that goes in every day so Nitrate is going in as well as the 300g of food per day.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
