reduced flashing after feeding
Prior to feeding i am now pre soaking their pellet with some boiling water, tiny amount, this has certainly reduced the flashing after feeding, some pellets must be more granular / sharper than others once crushed by the koi and must irritate their gills hence the flashing, moistened pellet reduces this.....

I'm thinking of starting doing this as a few of mine are spitting food, although after a little while they stop and I can only imagine its due to the fact that they have had a PP and 3 100% doses of Fluke M and 2 of Fluke S in the past few weeks, so hoping its more the fact that they are getting over the irritation rather than flukes being present still.
Strangely enough more fish are spitting food now than before the treatments, even my hoover of a Karashigoi is spitting every item when the pellets are dry, and usually that cleans up everything!

Hi Sam,
probably down to burnt / irritated gills from both the flukes and treatments.... moistened pellet will help as will salt baths for the worst effected, been adding honey as well but found this might actually irritate their gills as well being sticky so i dissolve the honey in boiling water first then add the pellet which soaks it up add softens at the same time...... how are your fish now?2200 gallons, infinity window,

I've been soaking pellets in a small amount of orange juice before feeding.
Mainly so I can get Spirulina powder to stick to them as a DIY colour boost.
This softens them up well.

I use a Preston innovations pellet pump, easy to do a handful at a time. Softens them and makes them sink. They proper mop them up.

I tried soaking them just now and I don't think any got spit, although the majority were around the corner out of view, but everything I did see went straight down the hatch so I think I will give them a few weeks of this and see if they are then ready for the normal pellets again. Thanks for the advice Steve! I do have some spirulina in the shed for this purpose too so could go down that route too although not sure I will need it with the SH colour food already the diet!
Every day feeding container?
Good shout, I'll have a look at Takazumi :)
