depends what temperature your at by early summer?
i would rate multi season for winter (october to may ) but once temps are over 14 - 15C i'd be back on the balance.
though i think Ricky said in a previous question time video he doesn't rate saki multiseason,
to which people replied it would now be on sale everywhere as no one will buy it
though his view on koi keeping can sometimes seem unwittingly skewed towards commercial koi keeping...
not everyone has there pond in a gigantic poly tunnel...

Now all of a sudden everyone is buying saki foods, my latest orders have come with 2024 expiry dates, so plenty of time to get through 15kg.
As most already know, I'll feed saki balance down to 8C, and my koi will be actively asking for food down to that temp, maybe down to 6C where they'll get earthworms and frozen mussels.

This might seem a bit premature...
since i still haven't decided what winter food i'm going to feed if i drop below 10C...
this summer i fed around 300g a day, based on their size and weight worked out to be around 2% body weight per day. and needed 30kgs of food for 3 months.
with another 15kgs for the 2 months either side of 'summer'...
so i've been working out what i'm going to be feeding next year, and how much i'm going to need.
but at their now increased size and weight working on 2% a day i'll need to feed around 500g a day =15kg A MONTH!

This years feeding strategy is going to be pretty much the same as last years, feeding mixture of saki growth, balance, and colour.
with the addition of mealworms and the odd slice of melon, and occasionally some mussles as treats too.
it's just the quantity thats changed...
i'm currently at 24 to 25C and i'm up to about 400g a day. though slightly less on some days, depends on how ravenous they are...
though the koi control app suggests a target of 650g to 750g a day...based on last autumns measure up
but that would work out at around 100kgs of food over the next 4 months!
but i think the app errs a bit on the high side....as i didn't feed as high as it suggested last year either, but still had good growth.
i've budgeted for about 60kgs this year as i have 2 sacks of balance, a sack of growth, and half a sack of colour.
but i'll probably get another sack of colour food at the national koi show in a few weeks.
that would allow me to feed upto 1/2 a kg a day over 4 months, so i'll have to see how it works out...
they certainly take a lot more feeding as they get bigger!

Im feeding tad less but will mix growth and colour as i have noticed a difference since stopped colour, i feed at 6am , 9am, 11am, 1pm ,3pm ,through auto feeder only 20g at min 40g around lunch time and i feed manually at 5pm 7pm then feeder at 9pm then its nothing till next morning starting low as temps only 16 and i want to get water levels right first

That's some serious grub Dave! I was feeding every hour and a half at one point from 5am till about 10pm but when I watched the fish they was getting diarrhoea, this was 30g per feed. I reduced to about every 2 hours and 15 mins and this seemed to fix it. I think whilst there is recommended amounts ultimately it's based on the behaviour.
I know Ricky says in Japan they feed what the fish eat in 10 minutes and increase it as the fish eat it quicker so it takes 10 minutes again.

mine don't feed much in the morning, even though i've tried to get them to take more they just leave it and i have to net it out.
they eat most from 3pm to 10pm when it's lights out
i only feed sparingly at 16C dependant on body, as they tend to put more girth on at that temperature, in favour of length.
and wouldn't feed colour food at 16C as it's not cheap and it won't get the full assimilation needed to have it's greatest effect.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
