Yep! That's exactly why I got mine but I love using it for travel, when the missus isn't telling me to hurry the F up as I take the 300th picture from the 18th angle of the same mountain anyway

Im up to 28 degrees by day now .. currently still feeding low-medium density (Koi Control recommendations) for Nisai-Tonsai. Would you have moved to Colour or Balanced ? What temperature would you stop feeding -- assuming I can't get down?

Im still feeding 80% Growth -- 20% colour as they sees as hungry as ever.

Was planning on just feeding saki this year, but the endless supply of fly larvae from the shower tray is providing more food than required. So upping the saki will have to wait for now.

Oh well, at least something is free in the koi hobby.

    i don't stop feeding,
just reduce what they have as temperature falls
and when winter comes round change over to wheatgerm and feed tiny amounts
as long as they actively want it, and it's above about 8C

so i've split the 15kg (actually 16kg when i weighed it ) bag in two, half in my sealed container for use in the next 2 - 3 months.

and half vacuum packed, and put away.
with a 2024 best before date, in a vacuum sealed pack, and put in a cool dark room (the pantry) i reckon it will keep until next year easy, if i don't end up using it...

Thanks for the advice. Id seen some advice to stop feeding at temperatures higher than 28 degrees . Im monitoring PH and O2 very closely but on a major learning curve.

yes i would probably stop feed much above 28C as oxygen can become an issue and feeding adds another O2 load.
the problem is if you get another load on oxygen like sudden drop in air pressure, from a thunder storm.
it can rob a pond of available oxygen very quickly....like a bottle of pop opened...

I'm sure you'll get though all that food Dave! I have used nearly 10k already since May when I started feeding, although I think they have only been really having it 8 times a day for the last 2 weeks! I opened the old bag of large SH growth I got a little while back on the Friday 2 weeks ago and would guess I have around 1.25k left of that now, still probably 2k of colour as feeding less of that now but will mix it with about 3k of the medium new SH growth I got last weekend once the large stuff is done and feed until the colour runs out then it will be pure growth till the temps permit!

i've also got 15kgs of growth and 15kgs of balance to get throught too, so might not use it all, but it's fine if it does...
hoping i can get some top temps soon with good weather forecast, ideally i want to be at 24C until september...

I think from the latter part of this week, 24 will be the lower side of temps from what is apparently coming the following week! I would love to maintain 24 till the end of September but we shall see.

i'm quite dissapointed with the summer so far, we had a few warm days a couple of weeks ago, and than back to 16-18C
if i weren't covering at night and heating for a few hours on economy 7 i wouldn't even be technically warm enough to feed balance @18C

    Welcome to my world.

My pond did peak up to 19C at one point... But then dropped back to 18C 🫤

My June / July pond temps from 2020, logged each time I do water tests:

    3rd June 2020 =20C
    15th June 2020 =21C
    27th June 2020 =23C

    10th July 2020 =20C
    21st July 2020 =21C
    29th July 2020 =22C

    So far this year:

    5th June =14C
    10th June =15C
    16th June =17C
    25th June =18C
    30th June =18C
    4th July =18C

Quite a contrast really with early and late june temps showing a 6C difference between the 2 years.

2021 temps were somewhere in the middle of those 2 years, but I only did one water test in the whole of July so not suitable to use 2021 as a comparison.

i'm currently at 23.5C but only with covering every night with the polycarb at 10pm just before the lights go out.
    and 5-7 kwh heating on economy 7 every day...@ £1.05 to £1.47 a day.
i was expecting the heater only to be used during gaps in the warm weather, but the gaps in warm weather now join together...
