Thread: New Fluke Treatments

Thanks, me too....
but i'm really happy with the way it completely dissolved in to the water.
nothing there a drum could possibly remove, so no issues with keeping the drum running.
just hope these chemicals aren't easily stripped out by the shower filter, which is what i think is happening to the flukesolve...
if not, it's either strip the shower down and submerge the media then dose again.
or buy a new 4,000 litre swimming pool fill and dechlorinate it, then aerate and dose it. and add the fish for 2 days...
and add a double or triple dose to the pond and filters while the fish aren't in it. or even supaverm it....?Last edited by davethefish1; 13-05-2022 at 02:43 PM.

Superverm I used the last time I had fluke many years ago worked fantastic I’ve used flubenol and flukesolve plus so far this time and the flubenol didn’t work the flukesolve plus only been in a week so don’t know yet if that’s worked if I could get hold of superverm id use that as my first choice I think

even though i've been treating for flukes for over a month now,
1 x flukesolve plus dose
2 x fluke M dose's
2 x flukesolve plus dose's
1 x flukesolve with 2 x 1/2 dose's
and now 1 x lernex pro today.
i have noticed the skin flukes are getting younger and smaller,
and none of them are carrying a fully formed hatchling inside them.

Only thing i can think of is my large shower is breaking down the treatment to a non lethal level for the flukes before its had chance to work.
Im just hoping that the nitroscanate main ingredient in lernex pro, isnt broken down so quickly, as its solubility in water is 100%

Hallelujah!
after 5 weeks of fluke treatments 2 x PP, 2 x flukeM, 2 x flukesolve plus, 1 x full and 2 x 1/2 doses of flukesolve,
and 5 weeks of still having 2-3 flukes on every single scrape.
...4 days after adding a dose of Learnex Pro, shower running, filters on, UV off.
i've just done 9 scrapes on 3 fish and....nothing...
i'm not going to jinx myself, and call it cured, and i'm going to do another dose tomorrow (5 days @ 22C)
but Lernex Pro has been the first treatment to have any effect on the flukes at all!

Congrats. It's worked.
Now whatever you do, don't go adding any new fish

Do you think it's the complete kicking they have taking from the full arsenal of treatments that's done the job then dave ?
Am still awaiting on one new fish to be delivered but kev at exclusively found fluke on the before boxing scrapes and has kept it for treating ( can't complain about that tho )

no mate, the previous treatments didn't work in my pond.
there was very little improvement in number of flukes on scrapes with fluke m, flukesolve, and flukesolve plus, over 5 weeks.
it was 5 days after the last treatment had gone in when i did about 6 scrapes and found the same number of live flukes as before...2 - 3 flukes per slide.
thats not to say those treatments don't work, i just don't believe they worked with my bakki shower breaking them down too quickly.
so i did 4 x CT treatments, then the learnex pro went in.
i used my mixing bucket with stream pump to liquify the granular powder to a milky solution.
it dissolved completely in the pond in a matter minutes.
i didn't even need to bypass the drum as it dissolved 100% into the pond water no cloudiness or anything.
something that i haven't found mention of anywhere else with people using lernex pro...
and then 4 days later i couldn't find any flukes on lot's of scrapes....
they've been such a nightmare to find something that will kill them,
i'm still not 100% confident i've totally nailed them, thats why i'm doing another treatment today.
as it hasn't affected there feeding or behaviour, they seem otherwise happy...even with the occasional flashing.Last edited by davethefish1; 02-06-2022 at 08:09 PM.

if what hair i have wasn't cut so short, i've have pulled it out by now lol!
nothing worse that ponying up £200 on treatments for them not to work....
and have to cough up another £70 for ones that finally did.
the biggest problem i had with researching lernex pro was,
loads of forum posts and youtube videos of guys dosing it in...
then no follow up posts or video, showing results, how it dissolved? how they found it? did it work? did they do repeat treatments?

I found it really hard to dissolve the lernex pro. I think this is why it wasn't that effective with my pond even before the drum. I used to mix it best I can then pour it into the skimmer as it would then go straight through a pump and back into the pond (no filter on there then) to try and mix it in better. This will be where I go next if they are still present although to be honest, the behaviour I was experiencing, lots of spitting etc seems to be gone now so fingers crossed all is well. Hopefully we are both over it now!

i used my stream pump and a 25 litre bucket to mix it,
i'll do a video next time as it's moving over 6,000lph in 10 litres of water
did you find like me, it had no gritty bits like flukesolve and dissolved completely?
it was a smooth milky solution that made the pond cloudy for about 5-10 mins before dissolving and becoming completely clear.

No, The best I could do was it mostly mixed but still little balls of dry powder on the surface to which I would try stirring under the surface.
With the Fluke S & M I got them to a milky consistency and the pond would be clouded with it in, then any powder left on the top in the corners I would stir in off the sides of the fibreglass then feed the fish among it so they could mix it for me! There wasn't much, a little bit of dust but it was all gone after an hour or two and the pond was not running at this point just the air moving the water with the filters submerged in the water with treatment in but all valves closed.
I do have an old 3500lph pump though so maybe next time I'll stick that in the bucket and shut the lid before turning it on!!
