    Daily running costs for pond

Had some spare time to day so had a play with my plug in electric meter to see exactly what is being pulled by all the kit, these were my findings,

Plug 1 - Powers the 20k vario pondxpert, supplying a 3 tier Bakki and 1 return - pump powered to 42% roughly 10,000 lph for 45w

Plug 2 - Powers the 20k vario pondxpert and the combi drum control panel / amalagam UV, via switch box, pump supplying water to the ASHP and 1 return, powered to 40% roughly 9500 litres for 68w - 20w is the UV and 5w is the drum so around 43watts on the pump..

Plug 3 - Powers the Medo 45 air pump for the bio and BD 42watts

    Total 155 watts x 24 = 3.72kwh x 27p = £1.00

Plug 4 - ASHP was off at the time but costing around 50p each time it comes on to put a degree back into the water, comes on roughly twice in 24 hours during this cold weather - £1.00 will probably leave off during the summer.

Total costs ball park £2.00 a day,

Was collating the info using my meter and also monitoring the smart meter in the kitchen to see how accurate this was when i turned off certain plugs, was actually quite comparable.... my wife is very good where the pond is concerned but she has of late pointed out to me that it would be cheaper without it which is true, but she enjoys them as well so all is not lost, today whilst monitoring the smart plug my wife turned on the washing machine blimey smart meter nearly fell off the side i then made a big mistake by pointing this out to the wife, she turned round and gave me that look where you immediately think oh shit i have done it now i won't tell you what she told me..... but words of mangle / cold water / do it your ---- self could be heard

Imagine the costs once the prices shoot up I am not sure on mine, will be aiming to run just the 40w amalgam at night and then the 40w air pump and my 20k vario with the drum at around 120w so 200w plus whatever the drum kicks out!

i was looking on an energy saving webisite and they said the average family home with an electric shower having 4 x 10min showers a day
    will cost £600 a year.

    40 mins a day x 9.5KW shower x 365 days = 2311kWh x 27p kWh = £624.15
    plus 50% april 2022 increase = 40.5p kWh = £935.95

it'll soon be one bath a week like the olden days

I've read the riot act to my lot.
They've been very lackadaisical about leaving lights on and wasting electricity.
    Got to make savings somewhere....

i was an early adopter of LED lights,
back in 2010 when a GU10 LED lamp could only be bought from an electrical wholesaler.
£22 each for the first ones i fitted from CEF
and they weren't even very bright...
and ended up taking over half of them back for replacements as they used to pack up...

but even if they are only about 6W each we have lots and it adds up...
came home the other day every single light in the house was 'on' the missus was at work, the lad in his room on his PC.
TV was 'on' and no one even watching it...
nearly 50 LED lights on and only 3 actually being used....300watts going to waste all day long....
it wouldn't be so bad but it wasn't even DARK!

    they'd call me grumpy...
i told them i'm thier ecological conscience

14,000l. Airlifts (XP80) + anoxic filters + drum. No trickle water consumption, no water pump.

    The XP80 is 58W * 24 = 1392 * 0.27 = 37p/day. Not including the drum power or water clean.

The existing 1500l pond is running at 50W+ with a water pump.

I insist on leaving the radio on for the dogs and a light if its dark and we are out for the evening, but its a lamp with an eco bulb so the bare minimum and its rare we are out of an evening anyway with a 16 month old!
