Around 15 large koi for sale
Good morning all.
I'm looking for a bit of advice if anyone is able to steer me in the right direction.
When I bought my current house I acquired a large pond with around 15 large koi carp. I have tried to research the types they are but I really do not have an eye for this sort of thing.
I have cared for them and made sure they are in a clean environment and followed all of the guidance on feeding etc...
I will be selling my house in a few months and unfortunately I will not be able to take them with me.
Does anybody know where I could get them valued or any experts in the Yorkshire area?
I would love to see them go to somebody who would appreciate them and care for them.

Best thing is to post some photos up of each Koi.
Value wise it is rare they will be worth anything as the previous owners would be unlikely to leave them behind if they had real value. But you never know.
Always difficult to move Koi on during winter, but come Spring you'll find a lot of new ponds being built and will probably get some interest.

Thank you for your message and advice. the old owners moved to France so couldn't take them over.
I have had a neighbor "that claims to know about koi" tell me that some are quite rare but I don't think he is really an expert haha.
Thank you for the advice on holding off until spring too. I was getting mixed reviews of the best time to move them.

The front one looks like a tancho sanke red spot
The far one (red and white) a kohaku
Hard to tell with others
They look decent size 50cm in length so a few years old.

Hi Graeme,.
Thank you so much for the help. Most of them in the pond are around 50cm or bigger. The koi on the right is the biggest and at guess I would say is around 75cm, I think that particular one is 20 years old. Everyone here is so helpful. It is very much appreciated.

I'm based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. They are some nice koi and I love sitting out there in the summer watching them.

These are the only other two in view at the moment as they seem to like being in the reeds over the winter months. I also have about 3 that are completely jet black, I cannot find any info on a breed for the life of me

Can't see if this one is black and white, or dark red/black and white.
If its a dark brownish red colour over white then the pattern lends itself to being a Goromo of some description.
If it is jet black and white, then potentially a Shiro Utsuri or a Bekko but the pattern doesn't fully fit with either but may have slightly deteriorated through age.
They all look like quite old Koi, and the Tancho Sanke has done well to maintain its pattern and colours for its age.Last edited by RS2OOO; 19-01-2022 at 03:44 PM.

The completely black ones could just be standard common or mirror carp rather than koi.
I put some mirror carp in my pond and the crystal clear water made them go from a brown and cream colour to a dark purply black colour.

Thank you all for the advice and guidance. The one in that pic is black and white @RS2000. Apologies for the poor photo quality. I think the pond has been active for 15-20 years so I believe a lot of the carp were added around that time.

I am looking to sell the tancho sanke and the kohaku very soon due to a house move. Can any one give me some advice on what I should ask for them? I believe they around 20 years old and 50cm +.
