Haha I messaged them today and they told me exactly the same mate.... useless
Currently mines not doing as good as that ratio wise, I'm at around 1.85lpm at 105psi to 1.2lpm waste...
i have only had it fully up and running to schedule since Sunday running 6x per day for half hour... i started off with a tds of 580 due to having salt in my pond! Obviously at first my ratios were alot worse, im now down to 420 TDS! It is soon sucking the salt out!
I have been keeping the waste water around 900 tds and below as to hopefully not knacker my membranes up and I have increased the pressure daily as the waste TDS falls.
The pressure is probly as high as i want it now so if in the next few weeks my ratios aren't were I expect them to be ill be changing the housings to see if it's the restriction causing it not to be....
How did your product to waste ratios start out mate?

This thread shows a level of water quality management which makes me feel guilty whenever I open my filter shed door!
I use a basic £40 carbon filter (£20 per year refill cartridge) and that's it. I use about 35 cubic metres of mains water per year in top up (driven mostly by drum flushing).
My NO3 levels stay at comfortable levels probably due to the anoxic functioning as it should and I don't get Cl levels I can measure in the pond.
I don't normally measure TDS per se - perhaps ignorance is bliss.
I did lose my biggest fish over Christmas (29" Kujaku), but he was never right after going for a 30ft+ walk down the concrete garden path and then repeatedly bashing his own head on a step for some reason.
Very impressive set ups gents. Hat off to you both!

The ratio's are less Important when starting or restarting after treatments.
You can get any ratio you want but if you push the membranes too hard they will start to block and lose output.
I wouldn't go anymore than 4:1 when at a low TDS
But 1:1 even is OK if you are starting with a very high TDS.
When i restarted after treating the pond i was at 300 TDS I was doing about 1 litre pure to 600ml waste at 90 psi
But my pump is running flat out as it's only standard RO pump.
But now my TDS is under 150 I'm running 4:1.

@davethefish1 your quite clued up with what's coming out of your tap.... have you ever had a drastic PH change??
So my source water has always been very hard.... ph of around 8.4, KH Of 10-11....Hence why I've gone down the RO route...
Last week I bought a hanna PH pen and when tested my source water it was 6.8! Iv monitored this everyday now for a week and it has stayed the same.... backed up with 3 different testers...
PH6.8 KH6 TDS360
Now I'll be honest it's not often I check the source water it's only because I got the new pen! I'm sure it hasn't been like this long as I did over a 50% water change a month or so back when I changed my filter and my pond ph remained above 8.
Can't get my head around it at all

the pH from your tap needs to be fully aerated in order for it to read correctly,
it reads low straight from the tap but increases once aerated.
there is science behind it, but i can't recall it at the moment, though probably gassing off CO2

That makes sense Dave, I knew you would be the man to ask!
Thought it was strange with the KH still being around 7-8, I'll leave a jug out for a day, let it do its thing, then measure it again.
Hows your new RO setup coming on mate? Did your pump arrive in the end?
