    More insulation...

Blimey the cost of cellotex gone mad again, brought some 50mm celotex to fully enclose the shower and also got some 50mm foil surround insulation for the pipework, due to the material inside the lagging i had to tape over the joins with Goriila tape to make them waterproof, i also Gorilla taped the whole of the Bakki shower to aid strength and also waterproofing purposes.....had the overflow changed to increase the height, now able to increase pond height slightly and so more height of water in the filtration to help balance the water levels easier.....

All very neat and tidy should retain a lot of heat especially on the shower

As for the price of cellotex there is nothing in the building that is cheap any more it's gone potty

    nice tidy job mate
as long as you can keep the insulation reasonably dry it should be fine,
but if it's fibreglass inside, the foil faced stuff is not really designed for external use as it can get wet.

i'm avoiding doing DIY atm due to material costs, it's just not funny anymore...
i got my celotex stuff from B&Q in the end 42 for an 8' x 4' sheet in 50mm
if i was ordering a larger amount a local builders merchant is cheaper for a non branded at 32 a sheet.
but buildbase want 53, and wickes 58 a sheet!

its a joke i spent 68 on 50mm cellotex and the local handy store had lengths of the foil backed insulation for 4 each so got 3 x 1.2m plus some foil tape for 15, also two large packs of 50mm gorilla tape so 100 spent just to cellotex the shower and pipework! yes Dave it is the insulation type stuff but i have gorilla taped every joint and gap etc so hoping it will be ok the foil is quite thick so water should drip off it.... fingers crossed it was the only 50mm insulation i could get off the shelf locally....

the problem with material cost instability,
is it leads to large building investments getting shelved until the prices drop.

then loads of builders get laid off due to lack of work, pay rates fall,
and they move into other work and never come back.

then material prices drop due to lack of demand,
but there is now a shortage of builders who don't want to come back to the industry, as it's a crap job without high pay....
seen it time and time again in the building trade...

i had to wrestle the thing to the ground while the wind was trying to rip it out of my hands,
so i jammed it underneath the car from the side, and cut it into 3 sections with a carving knife
