PH is an indicator of conditions in the pond.
not something you alter.
but 6 is acidic and in danger of causing a ph crash.
test your KH immediately.
wants to be minimum 2 preferably over 4
use sodium bicarbonate to raise it, maximum 30g per 1000 litres per day.

For me and a few others the kh test is probably the most important test kit which is strange when the api pond master don't have it

totally...
i bought the API freshwater kit as it has a better range including nitrate
but if you're going to do a basic pond test kit...
Kit 1 starter
1 ammonia
2 nitrite
3 K/H
4 ph range 7 to 8.5
Kit 2 additional tests.
5 Ammonia low range 0.0ppm to 0.25ppm (i wish)
6 nitrate
7 total chlorine (most starters may use dechlorinator so not strictly needed) but wants to be DPD4 anyway
8 phosphate
why do API put the GH and KH kits together...?
GH is virtually irrelevant...tested once on tap water... never used it again...Last edited by davethefish1; 22-11-2021 at 08:27 PM.

strip test kits are a bit notoriously inaccurate,
what doesn't add up to me is the 6.5 ph and a KH of 4
i'm sure that might be impossible....
i don't like the api freshwater high and low range tests, they're not really suitable for a pond.
because a pond will sit at the high end of low range, and low end of high range....
but use both and see what each one says...
at KH 2 on my old pond my ph never dropped below 7.2 (measured with a calibrated digital ph controller)
and at KH 6 currently my ph is 7.7
i'd say one of the tests is out....
but it wouldn't hurt to put one dose of sodium bicarbonate 30g/1000 litres in just incase your ph is low....Last edited by davethefish1; 22-11-2021 at 09:04 PM.

Any suggestions for a stand alone kh test kit thanks

Sounds about right for 14,000 litres
Yes food grade sodium bicarbonate.
You can get it in 5kg to 25kg buckets and sacks on amazon.
TATA is one known bulk brand or hexeal chemicals.

Yes dissolve it in warm water and pour in several places. You dont want one of your fish swimming through a cloud of high concentration bicarb, it would massively irritate their gills.
