    Digiflow 6710m

    Hi all,

I'm looking for reasonably priced very low flow water meter.

I think I've done this right

Calculating my trickle in/out rate at say 20% of pond & filter volume ( approx. 5700 litres)
per week. I reckon my top up rate should be 0.113 litres per min. approx.1140 litres per week.

    Looked at this
Digiflow 6710m which seems reasonably priced but only reads from 0.2~5.0L/Min which at its lowest rate come in at 2016 litres per week or 26.88%.

Would a water change at this rate cause any issues 24-7 365 ?

Or do I just keep looking for something that reads at an even lower rate and will perhaps read a 10% change rate on my pond or 0.056 litres per min (a dribble)

Yiu can get lower flow rate meters- Vyair stock the full range (I use these in my RO setup) https://www.vyair.com/en/digital-wat...l-mounted.html

    Thanks Scamp.

What trickle in rate do you run through yours?

I think the problem I have, if you can call it a problem, is with having a relatively small pond it is hard to reduce the trickle in to a rate that is easily metered and measurable.

At 10% I would need to reduce flow to 0.05 litres/min. or 50 ml/min. Obviously a larger pond would require a higher trickle in for the same % water change so I presume easier to meter?

I have to control the water rate into my Big blue from the wall with a gate valve type tap which is only just cranked open enough to allow a small trickle in.
Then on the outlet of the big blue I have a small irrigation type metering tap which I have found next to useless. I need to leave this fully open as it wont stand any sort of back pressure.
My water pressure is extremely high.

Hi Ruffers I'm running around 0.16litre/min so 9.6litres an hour, I would reduce lower, but the pipe run is long and underground, and doesn't seem to have enough oomph to get to the pond if I throttle back more.. Anyhow I have a 4000g pond...I understand with 5700litres you would want to trickle less than that....Cheers

The other option for really low flow rates is to use micro-irrigation drippers that have a fixed flow rate. For example these ones deliver a fixed 4 litre per hour, and you can fit more than one of them to get multiples of that https://www.hozelock.com/product/4-l...ating-dripper/

As Feline has suggested micro drippers work well. I have a small pond so needed low flow rates for trickle in. I bought 1.2 litre per hour drippers and some t pieces and can choose how many to suit required flow. Got a pack of 10 pressure compensated drippers for about 8 quid online.
