    I've found something amazing!

His feeding skills are to be commended. Is he heating in summer? That's a pretty amazing level! You should let people know the details. All the KOI's, TSUYA and TERII are also of the highest level. It could have entered this in a Japanese HINPYOKAI competition and it would have been just as good. And in this time of year is the perfect time to compare them, isn't it?

TSUYA and TERI mean "gloss" and "luster" the amount of mucous membrane and its texture is the barometer of health and reflects the most important technique of finishing, and the overflowing volume of the body shape is also the most important aspect for us to evaluate.

It is regrettable that the thumb bone of the fin is partly incomplete but this is the best KOI I have ever seen in Europe. What's more, his feeding and finishing skills are beyond Japanese!

So what he's proving is that it's possible to do it in the UK and a KOI SHOW in the middle of summer is nonsense!

in all honesty i've look at pond construction and the general koi scene in the netherlands for a while now.
and they seem to be streets ahead of the rest of europe.

they have a very large koi filtration manufacturer base.
and a high end koi scene, with most seeming to have very large ponds and systems costing well into 6 figures,
considering the relatively small size of the country...
with money like that, it is little surprise they have a lot of very good koi.

and has been proved by the recent thread on a koi auction site in germany, they get good fish at much lower prices...
where as here in the UK we get koi tax, council tax, income tax, value added tax, car tax, and UK tax,
everything you can buy in america for dollars you pay the same over here in £ GBP...

I don't care if he is German, Belgian or, of course, British. I am pointing out his feeding technique and its results. Perhaps his Dutch colleagues there are not aware that he is outstandingly good at it.

Most of the KOI HINPYOKAI, the origin of your KOI SHOW, take place in November/December and are very much in full swing right now.
It cannot take place in the summer growing season as you do.

The reason for this is that everyone competes in the feeding, the colouring and the glossing of the body surface.

Here is a selection of the most recently uploaded examples of successful body shape amplification in various HIMPYOKAI.
The main thing to note is the increase in flesh from the shoulders to the back and the thickness of the tail tube, achieved by the feeding techniques of each individual.
The stored subcutaneous fat has produced more mucus and increased the TSUYA and TERI.

This is the kind of achievement that should be competed for, but is not possible during the summer growing season.
So I would say that from this point of view, the Dutch man"s KOI is as good as any of the top Japanese KOIs.

These results can only be achieved if the KOIs are fed a substantial amount of food and allowed to digest and absorb it with a great deal of care and risk during their growth.
Such a perspective is also highly important in assessing the KOI.

British koi shows can and do take place in any month hobbyists in this country want them to. They don’t need your approval or your permission for this.
Those who show their koi have a protocol for preparing their koi for shows that involves manipulating their feeding regime in the run up to the show.

You seem ignorant of the reasons why our shows are held when they are.

Our biggest koi shows are held in outdoor venues. Can you just imagine owners of high quality show koi in heated ponds being transported in November and December to unheated outdoor vats with an ambient air temperature overnight of -5C? Then the water changes carried out in those vats being with mains water below 10C, causing massive fluctuations in temperature over the 48 hours the fish are there?

Then consider that the finances of a koi show involve visitors paying for a nice day out to look at koi and browse the trade stands. In freezing temperatures in a muddy field in the winter when it’s pitch dark by 4pm that is not really going to attract the visitor numbers required to make the show even remotely viable.

that's something that a lot of people from other countries don't grasp about the UK that have similar weather.
we are much further north than most of those countries, and only get as little as 7 hours of daylight in the north....
and very little sunlight, as it's mostly cloudy making it seem darker still...

did i say, i hate winter...?

With so few people practicing the keeping of KOI's to maximize their potential, a habit that has been going on for many years, we naturally expected such an opinion.

The main difference between your KOI Show and our HINPYOKAI is you have to interrupt the most important feeding period of the summer and just display the status quo but we compete with each other in a purposeful way in which we put a certain amount of pressure on the KIOIs during the summer feeding period in the hope that they will develop further.

As you know, most of the breeders keep their KOIs in mud ponds during the feeding period, and some of the hobbyists commission them.
These KOIs are not allowed to participate before the autumn harvest.
The best part of HINPYOKAI or rearing KOI is that you can sometimes beat them with equal or better results in your own pond, and the fun is that every year there can be exciting upsets all over the place.

The feeding and finishing results of this Dutchman suggest that this is actually possible, so we have taken the liberty of introducing them here.
That SANKE's physique and finish would be good enough to win the Grand Champion in some of the local Japanese competitions that we have listed.

KOHAKU (over 1 meter) bred by MARUYAMA is the grand champion.
It must have been raise and finish in a secret pond by RYUKI NARITA.
The owners of most of the top prizes seem to be Chinese.

※He has 13 previous Grand Champions under his wing.

"This is the only KOI I have ever bred that I thought was a bit different and cooler than the others, so I didn't show it to anyone and saved it for 3SAI, 4SAI and 5SAI."
”So when she got to 6SAI it was 86 or 87 cm...。?

”And then RYUKI of NARITA KOI FARMS observed it and decided to keep it in his place, so he bought it

※As you can see, they've done a bit of processing around the eyes. I personally don't think it's necessary, but I'm sure the Chinese man who ultimately owned this have their own wishes, so it's nonsense to interfere, but...

    And while watching the KOI

"I never thought I'd be this big, but the volume and the posture... It's quite difficult to maintain this posture when it's over a metre long, after all."
