i was looking at some fish for sale in a video a while back in america,
and i was quite awe struck by the stunning quality of them!
i've never seen fish like that over here....

do we get sloppy seconds in the UK?
the fish no one else wants to buy...
or can we just not afford to buy 'good' quality koi?

Hey Sam, Some serious nice koi on there mate and a decent size.

Not saying I am tempted but they are lovely fish.

As Dave says you dont seem to see this sort of quality in the UK for some reason, and seeing these it opens your eyes.

Possibly, these auctions are every couple of days. I have seen some seriously nice fish that have really tempted me when I have looked! I don't know if they are top quality or not as I don't know enough about koi but some of the Showa especially look exceptional to me, very interesting patterns etc.

Some nice fish there at very competative prices, be interesting what they actually go for..... might be additonal custom and handling charges this end to pay on top of the postage though.....

Anyway, the price of KOI is too high. The dealers and other importers are not doing enough. Overall, I feel that there is still a lot of room for lower prices.

Maybe you can take this role and import the best Tategoi for us forum members for an acceptable price so then you will be happy the UK is getting sufficient koi to the standard you frequently tell us about? Then we can follow the feeding patterns with your guidance and all enjoy frequent show wins

Top left of the screen on a computer it has the different languages. I also emailed and got a reply stating there is no import fees etc just the €89 shipping fee

We talked about this a while ago. The price of the KOI above a certain level is the price of the future. It is very similar to the transfer fee of a football player. It can be cheap if it eventually comes to pass as expected, but in most cases it will be expensive if it doesn't. By the way, are any of you Arsenal fans? Was the transfer fee for Japanese international Tomiyasu, who recently moved from Italy, prohibitively expensive?

I would be quite worried about shipping delays as things currently are at the ports.

Im considering driving over the Germany to visit my son at some point. Maybe I could pick some fish up from them when I go …. Not that I actually need any more fish

It’s very good of them to agree to keep and feed those fish until May for people for no extra charge. Makes it more doable when you don’t have a grow-on. I generally avoid buying fish under 45cm as it makes it hard to feed them up without fattening up the big guys who of course manage to snaffle the lions share of whatever food goes in.

I would imagine they will be shipped over UPS or similar, which would be flown straight in and delivered the next day pre 12 like a normal parcel. They also will grow them on for you in a heated tank for a monthly price so you could get a koi that's say 35cm now and pay for a few months growing on (think this varies from 15-30€ depending on fish size) then let it go back to ambient for a couple of months so it has a winter season before its shipped in May. I don't work for them by the way I have just asked lots of questions as have been tempted a few times!
