Might want to double check with Andreas at Koi Area, I did and turned out I was into two boxes with five mid-20cm+ fish. So will be looking for a couple more over next few months to max the second box out, that would be eight in total then.

think I read somewhere they’re kept in the cold , can’t find it now . Maybe was on an old Facebook page .

I asked yesterday if I could collect this year , I’m in freight forwarding and have an agent in Neuss.
    I didn’t get a reply .

they are kept cold post being heat ramped and quarantined. I’d be suprised if they actually have the koi at their premises. I doubt whether a reputable dealer would release livestock to a freight company, plus there would be the complications of bringing them into the U.K. I suspect the bringing them in in one large shipment is genuine, or it’s all a con…

they do have an collection service in April / May , just need to give 3 weeks notice enough time to get them brought in
if I win enough it may be cheap enough to arrange own transport .
is the price 89 euro per box or fish or anyone know how many you get in a box .

I asked a little while back and they said there isn't. They drive the fish into the UK then someone ships them to the customers door so would face the import charges if any at the docks themselves in that case as it would be a UK shipment as far as the courier is concerned.

My fish all fall in the 26cm-35cm bracket so can take 4 according to the website I am leaving Andreas in peace for a little while now after messaging him about 20 times asking pretty much every question that has been asked on here. Because I was the one who introduced everyone to this I feel responsible in a way! I have no doubt it is completely legitimate now though. if you check the dates of deliveries, it's clear they are driving to the different countries on different days and have a plan to distribute them all by hand around Europe. The countries that are delivered the same day are collected from a point in a City so the customer would get them as quickly as possible to keep transit times to a minimum. It seems like a pretty big operation too so probably multiple drivers from the shop. Roll on May, I can't bloody wait! I may even see nearer the time if I can cut costs a little by meeting them in the UK if it is a realistic time/place. Not sure if this is possible but I will enquire nearer the time anyway.

And agree with all you say here. And would add it's up to each of us to do our own due diligence!

What I am concerned about is that these guys may not know about these new import requirements. Things in March will step up a further level of control too. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/import-o...-and-shellfish
It’s a lot of hoops to jump through for a very minimal financial return when they could just sell the fish for the same price to any EU country. If I were them I would just cancel the sale to all of you and refund the money. They may not even appreciate what will be involved yet.

I think the due diligence I mentioned above about the purchaser also has to apply to the seller. If all the orders to the UK are cancelled, so be it, but everything I've seen and heard doing my due diligence suggests they are a well run business dominated by supply-side imports with a significant export focus. I'm not going to assume the debacle that is the UK government's mishandling and support and information to people and businesses over Brexit extends across the channel... in summary... we shall see!

All makes some sence now and sounds ok to me and as you say could be a little earner for someone here with a van to meet them at Dover.

If there are import problems surely the same would apply to importing from Japan.

No doubt UK dealers will be raising prices further citing new import regulations

Possibly, although the level of planning through to the point of already having shipping dates already suggests that they know what they are doing. I am sure they would have checked all this before spending money on facebook ads and setting up the auctions in the first place. I can't imagine they would just do it without checkin the processes first, they seem to be a well established business so don't think they would put their reputation on the line, I think the only reason the fish are as cheap as they are is because they are on auction. Exclusively koi has plenty of fish albeit smaller that go for little money, I know first hand as I got a ki Utsuri that went for £12 I think it was. We will soon find out

Look at the numbers, 300 koi a week is there plan. I dont think there is anything suspicious about the costs of the Koi, they must of bought literally thousands of Tosai, with hundreds of Isa showa for example. Some of those Showa selling for 250-300 euros, they will have paid peanuts for bulk from the breeder, so still a massive massive mark up. Im not seeing anything difficult in those import regulations for a well established dealer, but ill guarantee the UK dealers try and profit from them.

Yeah theres a few youtube videos so they are very much the real deal. When I had a brief look on the import side of things it didn't actually look complicated at all for ornamental fish, simply filling a form in. As Spongebob says, they are probably buying huge amounts and ultimately when Naoki is showing shops in Japan selling fish from £7-£190 at the top end, it only enforces how much we are getting ripped off in some cases here. Koi wholesale supply many shops in the UK and will be taking a cut, then the dealers themselves will take a cut so if your paying say £300 for a Isa tosai from a dealer here, they have probably got it for under £200 from koi wholesale who have probably got it for less than £100 shipped over from Japan, maybe even £50 when buying bulk amounts of fish that end up in shops. As I mentioned before, look at people like Gaz, Keepers koi etc who offer fish from the same breeders generally half the price of what the big shops are paying for them and we have all seen how stunning the koi Gaz sells are!
