    Planning permission on pond

    Just received letter from local council saying I should of had planning permission for my raised ponds anyone else had any issues

    Think it's a bit drastic unless it's in front garden and your surroundings are open plan, you don't need permission for a shed as far as I know

    It protrudes 1m from front of my property ponds only 3000 gallons with a pergola
    pond at rear of house is same but indoor and more than 2700 mm high

    I know your not allow to build on the front of my property as the rest of the houses are open plan on the front and only permitted to build 6 foot high off the front of the house or possibly ceiling height

    Never thought it would of been an issue I have a large drive with large brick walls and large wooden gates pond at fronts been built more than 12 months

    Jealous neighbours I would think, doubt they would be actively looking at your property in my honest opinion, is it connected to the main house or garage? If not its classed as a lean to structure and shouldn't need permission as far as I'm aware

    As Steve says jealous / nosey neighbours have reported it..... could have an issue being the front of your house if it extends beyond "permitted development" all depends how big it all is which is usually a % of your house and what is "allowed" by your local council, i had to get PP to build a porch 6ft x 8ft... very neat looking builds by the way...

    Neighbour that looks onto it built it for me paid him and says he has best view of pond

    could be anyone unfortunately or simply a council rep saw it and looked into it.... hopefully it wont cause you any issues going forward...

    Agree with Tac, I don't think you can construct anything forward of your front elevation. The pond I would have thought ok, but the pergola maybe not?
